I know this question is out of the ordinary but is there a reaonably priced brand photography vest anyone would recommend. Amazon reviews seem to be all over the place for vests so I'd rather turn to a trusted source, this group. Thanks!

I have found out the hard way that photography vests do not adequately protect my lenses.

Because I have a 4/3s system my Eddie Bauer vest works perfectly for me. You might check out fishing or hunting vests and save yourself some $.

What I have for casual use. $27 can't be beat. Many pockets, but not too bulky, very cool and breathable, and several color selections. But sizes run small.

Great reply!!! So refreshing to see a reply that address the issue rather then a sarcastic comment of no practical value.

Well, I was going to share how I like Orvis hunting vest and you get almost the same quality elsewhere cheaper, but after seeing MDI Mainer lead, just ordered mesh (I live in hot Texas) vest.

I got a fishing vest. So many pockets. Cheaper than one labelled “photographer”.

I own and use both a TravelSmith and a Big Pockets travel vest. They both have lots of pockets, take a beating (my TravelSmith is now 6 years old and has been to 5 continents and is still going strong), and are light weight & quick-drying. Both brands tend to run "true to size". The largest pockets in the Big Pockets vest are quite a bit larger than those in the Big Pockets vest. My TravelSmith vest gets significantly more use, though.

I have one that Kodak gave me in exchange for ten (or maybe 25...so long ago that I don't remember) Ektar box tops. Never worn it. Anybody wants it make me an offer. Will send photos if anyone is interested.

Well, IMO, you are not supposed to use a vest for LENSES - that is why I use soft cases on a belt and/or shoulder strap. - I do understand the temptation !

I just bought a Fuji 100s w. 4 lenses.

The pockets on my vest are too small for the larger diameter Fuji medium format lenses.

What vest model can you recommend that would handle this problem?

I just purchased a Fuji 100s medium format camera.

The pockets on my older vest are too small for the thicker medium format lenses.

Are there any reasonably priced vests with more than two large pockets that overcome this problem?

I realize there are some expensive (over $200) special order vests sold by B&H, but I'd prefer to spend less.

Thanks in advance.

Is 18 pockets enough. Maybe something like the ‘pocket fool’ from Duluth Trading Co. I have a couple of older models, well made and they boast of ruggedness and their stuff does last. They’re easy to deal with and easy returns. Link:
