Have your lawyer write them a letter and threaten them with some sort of legal action. That should get their attention. Also put up a negative review up on their facebook page. Corporations just hate that.

I have sort of resisted going the lawyer route. I've never been very successful with them. But I'm thinking it might be required.

Sent Brand New Lens (purchased directly from Canon) back for marks on front glass, was returned to me with same marks and note saying nothing wrong with glass. Sent letter to CEO who in turn had customer support call me (extremely helpful) they supplied label, with a contact name at repair shop, so returned again to repair, they eventually gave me brand new lens.
As mentioned above contact all big shots in writing or email, and CC a layer and national newspaper/photo mag. You don't have to sent letter to layer or mag, just the threat works well. Good luck
Sent Brand New Lens (purchased directly from Canon... (show quote)

Thanks.

While you are communicating with the "powers that be" at Canon, I suggest that you also send them a link to this on-going discussion about your problem that we're having right now in the UHH. Companies do not like to be sued, nor do they enjoy negative publicity, especially if it is accurate.

A note from a former paralegal. Start at the top as stated, the CEO. The letter will not get to him but he will find out about it. When writing letters and e-mails cc: anybody you can think of for example; your states secretary of state, consumer affairs, Cannon USA president etc. Write things down and most important - Keep Copies!!!
John

Copies are very important.

I've had a similar service experience with Canon.

I guess it's comforting to not be the only one.

Kathy, I wanted to mention that before you do anything with snail mail or court. Some of the great people here have given you some names of people in charge of Canon her in this country. Extend your research to get there email. It shouldn't be that hard to find. And shoot them an email with your rant also explaining that you've posted it on this site with the number of responses to your rant. Then, nicely, explain your dilemma and that you need their help. It should get something moving to help you.
If it doesn't then contact Japan and do the other things suggested by many of the fine individuals that have responded to your rant.
Also, state that you will update everyone on UHH on what happens. And I hope you do update all of us.

Michael
Kathy, I wanted to mention that before you do anyt... (show quote)

Thank you, Michael.

I was really bothered to hear that your problems with this camera did not end, after you seemed to have gotten it working properly a while back. Stay mad and let them know. I like the suggestion by Quixdraw, and Mr Shapiro suggest. Very sorry about this. I know how excited you were to get it.

Thanks!

I want to thank everyone for their suggestions and encouragement. Right now I'm facing a bigger problem. I fell Tuesday morning and fractured my left hip. I was stuck outside for two days, so I'm also badly burned. I'm now in the hospital and will be in rehab for some time. But I'm not letting this go. Thank you, everyone.

I had a Canon image PROGRAF iPF 5000 that the manual was complicated and virtually no help, technical Support was useless and when the printer failed the Company offered to send a repair technician. Just to get him into the house was 800+$ for actual repairs. I explained that I could get another new Printer and that their product never produced a good print no matter calibration, paper profiles, etc. and constant error messages. I will never buy another Canon printer it is very complicated to use and not user friendly! As far as their Canon cameras the Company has better competition from other camera manufacturers! I will hand it to canon the company jumped out in front of the other companies to replicate the SLR film camera. The Company has the responsibility to have better relationship with the Consumer on servicing their product which they have failed miserably to provide.
