While I don’t think your length of time on here or number of posts has any bearing on the validity of your opinion I don’t get where the “racist” charge is coming from. That being said I think ctcj is right that isolated incidents like this are indicative of how companies like Nikon and Canon do business. It does seem that Canon hasn’t handled this well, but I also think the OP has made some mistakes along the way, number one being sending the camera alone into Canon and not including the lens. Even in her posts here she’s been very vague about what the problem is. We have no idea if she was this vague in describing the issue to Canon. At this point if I were her I’d want clarification and documentation of what exactly was done and exactly what they need to do with the lens. I would then escalate it to try and get some financial relief. I’m guessing some of her issues are really caused by miscommunication by both parties.
ISS is the Irish repairs agency for Canon in Ireland, years ago I had them look at the mirror box of the old Canon 5D Classic. I don't know what they did with it but it's still firing like new today. More importantly, I found them to be lovely people to deal with. I use Nikon, Canon, Fuji and Sony today, so I have never gone past the Canon IDs Mark 111 which has a lovely balance with the proper L lenses. I don't need to upgrade it as I do no fast work.
As a young junior high schooler, I used to ride my bicycle to EPOI, Ehrenriech photo optical industries. The company was located behind a regional mall, Roosevelt field, in Garden City, NY.
When Nikon took over the United state distribution and service for all US Nikon products, they moved to where they are now, Route 110, Melville, New York, which is two miles south of my business, also on Route 110!
So, not only have I been a Nikon user since 1972, I am also lucky enough to get walk in (preferential) service, as I know all the people at the counter and some of them are also my customers.
Yes, Joe Ehrenreich did run a tight ship, but the demand for Nikon products, became too great for him to keep up and for better or worse, we have Nikon, USA.
I understand corporate frustration be it Nikon, Fuji, or Canon. Might I suggest again, Photo Tech, 212-673-8400; located just down the street from B&H, 360 W 36th St, Ground Floor, NY, NY 10018. They'll fix anything, US market or grey market without complaint, promptly, professionally and at a reasonable price.
With all the Sony bashing here I went Sony from Nikon (last 2 D800's I owned had issues) .
I have had most of the mirrorless models from the NEX series to the a7 series to a7s II a camcorder
the RX10 24-600, RX100 3 of them never had a repair.
Canon and Nikon are great camera companies. They will be around for along time.
Thanks for reference to repair facility.

Another independent repair facility that occasionally posts here.
http://www.discountcamerarepair.com/home.html, who is located in Colorado Springs. I've only used the service once but was pleased with the results. Saved $300 by using him rather than Canon's factory service.

Months ago (many months ago) I sent a 1DX off to Canon for repair analysis because it would not correctly meter and it would not "play nicely" with my 28-300 Canon lens. They charged me $775 to repair it and sent it back. It immediately failed. I sent it back (under the repair warranty). They "fixed" it and sent it back. The second time I used it, it failed again. I sent it back and after a week they returned it. Each time it came back there was absolutely no communication from them as to what they did or what was wrong. It is now back in the shop for the fourth time, and again, there has been no communication about what is wrong with the camera or what they are doing to fix it. This time they asked for the lens, which I sent. Now they want another $775 to fix the LENS! The lens works perfectly with my other cameras! And if it doesn't when it is returned, I honestly believe they broke it in order to extract more $$ from me. AND, they have yet to tell me what is happening to my camera!
I think I purchased a camera that they don't know how to fix so I have a very expensive doorstop! And I cannot believe that Canon repair is this obtuse!

Here's the definition since you clearly are unaware of what the word actually means.
rac·ist
/ˈrāsəst/
adjective: racist
prejudiced against or antagonistic toward a person or people
on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.
I was really bothered to hear that your problems with this camera did not end, after you seemed to have gotten it working properly a while back. Stay mad and let them know. I like the suggestion by Quixdraw, and Mr Shapiro suggest. Very sorry about this. I know how excited you were to get it.
