Some of us here are over fifty, and there's a rumor going around that people over a certain age have to "exercise" their brains to keep them working properly. I think I've stumbled on a pretty good way of doing that.
I know that most of us have different brands of cameras, and they all have different Menus and controls. I like to switch between Nikon, Sony, and Fuji to mix things up and remember how to use them. Bringing all three with me in the car and driving somewhere to shoot is a fun way to not only use different cameras, but also to exercise my brain - remembering how to use the different controls and Menus.
I wonder if such travel could be considered a medical deduction.

I tried your method. Turns out I could remember how to use the menus. I just couldn't find my way home.

I try to learn a new post processing skill at least once a month. Helps keep me out of trouble. But not most times.
Been over fifty for awhile now, (oh to be 50 again!). As a career elementary teacher, was familiar with all the continents and if I heard the name of a country, could tell which continent it was in. Decided to learn the geographic locations of all countries of the world, and memorize them, with correct spelling, (and all the pseudo-countries that weren't quite real countries, regardless of their autonomy status!), according to their geographic localities. If I can't sleep or if waiting for a person or appointment, or photo-op, just recite all countries of the world by continent or geographic area, (such as Carribbean nations & Oceania). Great fun!

Keep wondering and consider THAT mental exercise.
Does "Words with Friends" count?
Learning them is not a problem, retaining yes.

That is probably a valid concept you have there. Only the specifics would vary from person to person.
In general I partly do photography to keep busy. Yes, trying to keep up on how to precisely use each of my cameras is a challenge. 4 different Pentax DSLR, 1 Fuji, 1 Samsung, 1 Samsung SmartPhone with camera. Plus film 35mm and 4x5" cameras. The last time I tried shooting with a view camera I messed that up. I forgot about bellows extension and reciprocity, and so vastly under exposed all the film. At one time I could take film photos in my sleep.
Good try for you personally but a very difficult one to challenge the IRS!

The Sony menu alone is enough exercise for my brain!
You don't have to go with different cameras for that, just different users. I gave my husband one of my cameras when I upgraded. The other day there was a cool scene with critters at the pond behind my house. Not wanting to miss it I grabbed his camera because it had the lens I wanted. Couldn't get it to focus and was getting frustrated until I remembered that he has the focus on the shutter and not the bbf that I use lol
On top of that, Jerry you can go to menus and select a different language.
That could make your brain churn?
LOL.
Heck Jerry! I am well over 60 and cant remember where my camera bag is! J/k. Best exercise for my mind is my younger wife making me chase her around for my Geritol and a Grandson who asks incessant questions. Don't retire too early, and have a purpose after you do retire.
