Have you considered purchasing a factory refurbished model? I purchased my factory refurbished D810 from B&H and have been very pleased. Only 176 on the shutter count.

Dodie

Thanks for the heads up, I will investigate this possibility.

Was advertised on Facebook Marketplace. I do not know how I would go about researching their past behavior.

As you all may remember I was offered a D850 with 11K shots for $2500. Many though this was too much for a used D850 so I passed as the guy would not budge on price. Yesterday found a listing for a Nikon D850 with 926 shots in new condition. No box or manuals but everything else and 2 batteries. Wanted $2300 but got him down to $1950. Serial number is 3081152 which would indicate a US model. Just have to drive 200 miles to Grand Raipids, MI to pick it up as he will not ship.

You know I have been thinking about this & I have some concerns. If you are still going to drive 200 miles to buy this camera, please don’t go alone. There are a lot of crazies in this world.I am concerned for your safety, please reconsider this idea!🤔

Make sure you don’t send him money as Grand Rapids and central mi Craigslist and marketplace has been noted for numerous scams
Read the previous postings…. What do you mean by joystick? Never heard that referred to on a camera before

By the time you read my comment, I assume you will have made the trip and shot at least a few hundred images. Nice deal.

I have a d850. I was encourage by the people on UHH to jump on the deal that I had in front of me. So I did. I didn't have to drive 200 miles to pick it up but it would've been well worth it. Since it doesn't have a manual pick up Dvid Busch' guide to it. Go get a great camera you will have a blast with it

In otherwords, why sell something if you won't ship it?

Thought to chime in on selecting a Nikon. I got my first one (Nikomat ftn) in Japan in 1968 and used it into the 80's until it broke and got dropped too many times. I was slow to go digital, but started with several Lumix with Leica lens, ending with the LX5 (which I still have and like); but I wanted to go back to a DSLR. I empathize with the anguish over what camera model to buy given how expensive cameras have become. My solution was the Nikon DF, which I bought because of the D4 chip and enhanced software which gives me the closest film color rendition that I have seen, having been raised on film. I also like the external controls and relatively small size. When introduced, it was trashed by the critics and the like because it was expensive and lacked features such as video, and portrayed as a nostalgic toy. Be careful of bad review press as folks like to be critics who may have never used the product. This is a phenomenal and solid piece of equipment that can now be found used for under $1500 or less. I can use my old Nikon glass I purchased in Japan, but now carry it around with a Nikkor 24 mm 1.8G which makes a light walk-around kit.

I think it has been discontinued as not a successful product and is now sort of an orphan but the experiment created a remarkable keeper of a camera.

Just saying,
NRB
