I’ve had only good experiences with MPB.

On two occasions now, MPB has made me the best offer.

If you mean literally cash, Craig's list and holding the face to face transaction at your local police station is the best way.

That's exactly what I did a week ago.

I post here on UHH and Craigslist and occasionally Facebook Marketplace. Prior to the posting, I check selling prices on eBay and what KEH and MPB will give me. I use that information to set the price. I’ve on occasion also gone to FredMiranda to look at their asking and sold prices for the same advice. Your biggest risk here on UHH is a troll who feels obligated to report that he found a lower price somewhere and feels obligated to tell the world instead of just sending a PM. Should things go badly here, priced competitively, I’ve only been unsuccessful a few times. And don’t relax and meet your potential seller in a non public place or your home. The other options, KEF or MPB, will offer you between 50 and 65 per cent of what they will sell for. For KEH, they sponsor a few podcasts where you can often find a code to receive an extra 5% or so. But... if cash is king, Craigslist is the way to go.

If you have patience and don't mind the hassle and risk a privet individual may fetch the best price. OTOH I find MPB and KEH the easiest and risk free way to sell gear and have used both many times over the years.

In recent times my preference has been MPB for speed, and consistency in matching quote prices.

#1 Craigslist- I have the best luck selling used gear here on CL. Just know that you must insist meeting in a public place, and cash only. I always put a little verbiage at the end insisting that the scammers need not call, cash only, no PayPal, will not ship to your husband or wife, sister or anyone for any extra amount. I usually meet at my local Starbucks

#2 eBay - I use eBay when I'm selling someone elses camera gear. It's guaranteed to sell for a good price but the commission amounts to about 12% plus it's a little extra work to pack it up nicely so that it doesn't get damaged by USPS. I start the bidding at $1, and I use eBays own shipping labels because they are cost effective and once eBay receives the item, and they forward it to the buyer, you'll have no worries even if it ships overseas.

Note: It's imperative that you take really good pictures of the item and that you reveal anything wrong with the item. I always keep the manuals and boxes that my gear came in, as this is somehow a really good selling point. Knowing the shutter count is also wise. Trust me, if you sell a camera body, someone will always ask for the shutter count. They may also want the date code on your L series Canon lenses. Don't give inaccurate descriptions or you may regret it.

#3 Online stores as others have mentioned - but be prepared to be payed about half or less than that of what your gear is worth. Many places like B&H or Adorama might say your item is worth between $1500-$1750 but tell you they wont know for sure until you send it to them and they evaluate it. When they get it they often times offer even less that the first estimate. You are more apt to just take it because it took so long to get this far and you don't want to wait for them to send it back to you. Happens all the time.

The easiest is with KEH. They are reasonable and fast. Not sure if they are best.

Just did a transaction with MPB. They gave me the highest bid for camera and 4 lenses, sent them in and had the money in six days.

I have used Adorama, KEH and MPB to sell cameras and lenses. All were were painless. I suppose e-bay is a possibility as well. I usually with CHG_CANON but I do not do business on Craig's list. I have heard too many bad stories but Craig's list appears to be a good place to sell hot items. You could sell here as well.

Recently, I did a trade with MPB. I sold a lens that I no longer use and bought another. The new lens was an open box but otherwise new. The process took about a week. I sent the lens to MPB (They paid shipping), then they checked my lens and sent the new one. I now have a virtually new lens at a substantial discount.

The UHH troll thing happened to me. These people are a pain. A simple private message would have been nice. When I looked back into their profile history, I see they were older (much) and are in the habit of one line "drive bys" on people. Add very little to meaningful discussion in any forum.

Depends upon what you mean by "best".

The easiest way to sell a camera is to offer it to one of the used camera retailers like KEH.com or MPB.com. The big retailers B&H and Adorama also buy used gear. They'll give you an estimate up front, you send them the camera, they evaluate it and make you an offer. If you accept that, they send you a check. Done. The only problem is these are businesses who have to make a profit after all their expenses, so the most they will offer you is the wholesale value of your gear. That will be less than you would potentially get some other ways.

If your goal is to get the most money you can out of the sale, an online auction might be the best way.... but there's some risk doing that and to maximize results you'll need to do some work such as taking photos, writing a good, accurate description, setting an aggressively low starting bid amount to get as many bidders as possible involved, and will need to collect payment and ship the item once the auction concludes. There are a number of things that can "go wrong" in the course of an auction, too. For one, you can only guess what you might ultimately get for the sale. All sorts of things go into the ultimate price something brings at auction. There are only so many things you have any control over, such as the number and quality of your photos, the professionalism of your description and the start/end time of the auction. Some of the risks included losses in shipping, or returned items. There also occasionally are bidders who don't pay, so you have to re-do the auction. Besides the cost of shipping, you also get charged for the auction itself and the process of getting paid.

Somewhere in between these two are private sales through various sites like this one. UUH has a classified section for precisely the purpose of putting sellers and buyers together. For a quick and relatively easy transaction you need to research fair prices and discount a little from the highest prices you see things bringing at auction (which you don't get all of anyway, due to the costs of an auction). There's a little more risk than selling to a retailer, but I'd say not as much as putting an item up for auction. You also still have to do some work taking photos, writing a good description and eventually packing and shipping the item. And you'll need some means of receiving payment, such as PayPal.

About the only way to get a purely cash sale is through your local Craigslist. Here you need to do much the same marketing effort and pricing, then meet with potential buyers and give them opportunity to check out the item. There also may be some price negotiations involved. There's some risk doing this too... Only meet with people in a highly public place such as a bank lobby or inside a local coffee shop. People have been robbed trying to do Craigslist transactions.

If you mean actual "cash" I have sold electronics and other items (but never a camera) on Facebook Marketplace with good results but then you are limited to your local market.

I agreed with that. Just sold some gear to them and it was about a weeks time from when I sent it to being paid.
