I was very impressed with this program when I first purchased it late last year. Since then there have been a couple updates and it seems to me the latest version doesn't sharpen as well as the older version. Has anyone else experienced that or does anyone have any suggestions? I watched a youtube video that said you can revert back to an older version but not being tech savvy I'm afraid of losing the program altogether if I try to revert back.

Jerry, I use it a lot. It took a bit of adjustment to get used to the latest changes but I am pleased with the work it is doing.

Carol, today I used it on a couple images and it did a better job.

Mine actually works better and faster with the latest update.

The first version I had was extremely slow and an update really sped it up but now once again it is very slow again. I've got tons of free time so it's not keeping me away from anything important.

I was going to say the exact same thing. A little tip is to let it process your picture file using the default modes first. Then play with the settings if you wish. I find that the default settings are much more than accurate and adequate.

I agree. Sometimes the default will be “stabilize” or “focus” and it will be too much but it’s gotten much better at making the right choice.

I have Topaz Sharpen AI. I used it last night for a landscape shot. I set it to sharpen the photo. It ran for over an hour while it was buffering telling me that it was processing. Out of frustration I let it run all night. this morning I'd seen that it had quit. And it that returned the photo to photoshop. and it was back to square one. Not only Topaz didn't do anything but all the adjustments I made on photoshop were erased.

That’s so out of focus it wouldn’t help anyway. It also sounds like your computer doesn’t meet the right specs to run Topaz apps very well.

This morning I got a shot of a female cardinal that came out soft and running it through Topaz did sharpen it quite nicely so at times it does better than at other times.

The best option is always try to get it right from behind the lens and use color correction and sharpness correction as little as possible. Over correction can have some negative side affects, especially when you print.

Jerry, There have actually been several updates in quick succession, up to versions 3.0.3 because some of the versions actually broke features that worked well and resulted in poorer results. Make sure you have updated to 3.0.3. If you still aren't happy, use their online support texting system. I did that and was able to help them find and fix the problems that I was experiencing. They were very responsive and appreciative. jak
