This is another of the little wild purple violets from our yard. I am experimenting with my new 'bendy arm' dual head flash with a DIY diffuser paired with the Nikon Nikkor 200mm f/4D-IF ED macro lens mounted on the Nikon Z6. Although I've had the lens for a bit now the camera and flash are new so practice...practice...practice is needed to be ready for things that will start to pop in the next few weeks.

Excellent work, Gary!
Thanks, UTMike. Although our weather temperatures have been spring-like here, we have been experiencing the fabled "April Showers"....that bring May flowers (along with the pollinators).
I've had the macro flash for a few weeks now and I've taken pictures of cereal boxes, newspaper print, and other stuff around the house to get familiar with the power settings for it is a manual operated flash.
I also have been bouncing back and forth between my different macro lenses to determine which ones provide me the best working distance as well, and more importantly, the best ability for me to hold focus for I shoot totally manually including manual focus during my walkabout macro sessions. It is quite humbling for me to see how much I move when I try to hold perfectly still.

Beautiful as always Sippy. I think it's about time for a walkabout, don't you.

Thanks, Steve. The showers have passed and the sky is clear today however it would be a great day for flying a kite for the wind is quite blustery. But hey, it's bound to change over time.
This is lovely. It is so delicate. I haven’t seen a violet in ages.

Thanks, Carol. Our lawn is what I refer to as "natural turf" which means that whatever nature wants to grow there is fine with me although I do have to keep it mowed when it gets too tall. Our neighbors toil and pamper their lawns with many making putting the greens of a golf course to shame.
Our yard is carpeted with colors of purple, blue, white, red and yellow which provides an inviting habitat for a micro environment.
While the neighbors are out weeding, trimming, watering, thatching, edging, fertilizing and constant mowing, raking and bagging....I'm out walking about in the yard with my camera in hand.
You must have a lovely yard, sippy. Keep the flower images coming.
Beautiful photograph. I wish you luck with the new equipment. Looks like you are doing well so far.
