Is mirrorless really better thand DSLR? (modern versions only)

You need to look at the advances of mirrorless cameras. Sony just released a camera that will do 30 frames per second. With the high MP and frame rate it's like pulling stills from a video. I do mostly wildlife. Personally I'm switching after I return from my 3 week photography vacation, never wise to take new equipment on vacation to learn.. Sony and mirrorless is the future, you can jump on board or not....I've waited to long myself..

No one is saying that.
The facts are...DSLR's had their day... a very long day indeed.
But mirrorless has now surpassed them in many ways.
ALL of the R&D monies now go towards mirrorless...not DSLR.
Except for Pentax...but that's a joke for another day.

Full disclosure, I have that 50mp Sony A1 with a fullframe stacked sensor which can do 30fps with no blackout at full AF-C (making 120 AE/AF calculations per second); an EVF with 9.44 million dot resolution and 240fps refresh rate; and no rolling shutter in electronic shooting. 1/500 sec flash synch speed, and the first camera to flash synch in electronic shooting also. Oh and it also records in 8k video. No DSLR on earth can do that, none.

Yes. Mirrorless is a better camera to shoot landscapes with but the image quality will be the same. Seeing the image, histogram and zebras live in the EVF is the winning feature for me.

You are missing the point here. NO one said any of that John. The discussion is about is mirrorless better than DSLR. Great photos are great photos whether made with a cellphone, view camera, film camera, or digital camera DLSR or mirrorless. I know, I have made great shots with all the above.
We can debate and compare photos in another discussion.

With a DSLR when shooting BIF as they land in continuous mode you get the open wing, closed wing, open wing, closed wing sequence. With a mirrorless and 30 fps you can pick and choose the frame you want. Can't wait to get on the band wagon...

For me I walked into a camera store completely oblivious to mirrorless. Sure I’ve heard of them, but they were never on my radar. I walked in looking for a D7200, but they only had the 7500. First, a quick backup, I no longer had any camera or equipment as my faithful D200 and lenses was stolen. So there I was having to start from scratch. I had seen on display the Sony a6000 lineup, and scoffed. Now I was ready to walk out with the D7500, until the sales tech compared the features, and pointed out the features, and speed. Well I now have that APS-C a6000, plus an full frame a7III. Now I loved Nikon, and was fond of Cannon. But now I’m simply sold on my Sony mirrorless. Do I think it is better than the D7200 I wanted? Maybe, but only because of focus and fps. But the quality of my photos? Nope, as I always shoot RAW.
Now if I still had any of my old lenses, then on my shelf would be a D7200 & D750 instead.
