This is top-shelf product, no matter where assembled.

AFAIK, there are NO US monitor manufacturers now. There are US brands such as Dell, but the components are made mostly in Southeast Asia.
It is darned near impossible to meet the economies of scale available in Asian countries. Tragically, the US priced itself out of the world labor market decades ago. We no longer make significant quantities of any electronics or optical products here. The same thing has happened in Japan. The Japanese may engineer their products, but most brands get them manufactured in China, Viet Nam, Thailand, Taiwan...

I have the SW2700PT Benq and it is a very good monitor. The resolution is perfect and the 27inch screen is a charm. If I were you I would go with Benq all the way. Make sure that you get the calibration for it, like Spyder Pro or XRite and calibrate every 2-3 weeks.

There is a world of difference when PP with 4K verses 1080 or less...but you don't need to spend $1K.

Hi - Would you recommend the SW or the PD series? I just had a call with Benq, and the said the PD series could not be calibrated. (I have the ability to calibrate my monitor). I am trying to get good image reproducibility.
Also - did anyone purchase a refurbished unit or new?

I initially ordered a refurbished PD unit from Amazon but there were cracks in the screen. I sent it back, got my refund and then chatted with BenQ and was convinced that the SW would be better suited for photo editing. I ended up ordering it from B&H to save sales tax and shipping charges.

It should be fine. I am pretty sure it has a programmable LUT, so make sure you use a profiling tool that can program the display. The least expensive one would be the Xrite i1 Display Pro - for about $250.

The Datacolor Spyder X will also program your BenQ display - I used it it to program my SW240. You should also download the Palette Master software.
