I got the 70-200mm 2.8. Non IS.

Ha, ha! I am pretty excited! I feel like I have tried for a long time to get the results I am getting with this, I have had to patiently wait, and keep trying. I am not the most patient person! Ha!

Now more than ever I will double my efforts to save the money to get this lens. Thanks for sharing the photos. I'm glad you were able to exchanged it.

Jim,

I love the lens. I have not been able to play much, bad weather, rained all day yesterday, and so windy now. :( The shots I did get though are amazing compared to the ones I got with the f4. I wasn't ever sure about the f4. I should have never let the sales lady talk me into it.

Here are a couple I shot yesterday as well as the puppy.

Thanks so much for your advise! I'll keep trying to perfect my shots! :-)

You are quite welcome. I did not suggest or say anything that has not been posted in the past in other threads. It is a very popular lens. The main complaint I have read is because of the weight. As long as you are comfortable with that you will be happy with the lens.

I do my best to stay out of camera shops. It has been my experence that the salesman will try to sell you what they have in stock at the time, or what they have the most of to even out their inventory. They often do not have your best interest in mind. Don't get me wrong, they have their good points such as if you want to compare two lenses. You do need to have done your homework before walking into one though.

Keep practicing and shooting, so far you are doing well. I don't think you will be sorry!

Jim D

I just looked it up, I can't make the IS 2.8 happen, I cant get away with $4,000. on a lens right now, so with that said would the one without IS be better still?

I don't know if someone suggested this already but you can prob get a Sigma 70-200 2.8 with OS (same as IS) for about 1400 dollars... Canadian of course...

I am very happy with my results! These are hand held, I do plan to get a mono pod, but have not had a chance yet.

I still have work to do on the action shots, I have never really taken them until this lens and I've had it about a week now. :-)

Thanks for all your help! I do love it!!
