There is one flaw in this set of equations, leading to an impossible conclusion that 1=2. Can you find it?

If a=b
B cannot equal a+b as a and b have the same value.

As many responders have already stated, the problem lies in line 4: a-b = 0 ... and to get to line 5 you are effectively dividing both sides of the equation by 0. If you recall from your algebra lessons, one cannot divide by 0. Everything after line 4 is the fruit of the disallowed division.

If a=b, b can equal a+b, but only if both a and b are zero.
