I’m a videographer. I own 4 Sony mirrorless. 2 A6400’s for video only. A6500 and A7iii for photo/video. Travels easy and outstanding video production.

I had One client who wanted me to do some interviews for a video they were producing.
One video project/One time. My only foray into the video realm.
With the D800 the results were really good and, most importantly, the client loved the whole thing. This was about 4 years ago.

Since then....I have done NOTHING in video and have no plans to do any.
Hard to say no to a client, but I have no interest in pursuing video at all.

70% still and 30% video. I travel light and don't want to lug two cameras. Any kind of photographic use of my phone for either still or video is generally not satisfactory. So I'm very happy with my Lumix FZ300 that gives me both. There are a number of areas where video excels - wildlife, sports, grandchildren. I find that I frequently use the feature in my camera that allows stills while making a video.

Just intrigued to find out what we do use our DSLR/MILC cameras for? (don't count the "I wonder what this button does?" occasions when you accidentally find yourself with a video file)

I'll begin the survey with my "stats" - here they are:

Photography 100% Videography 0%

Both I my cameras have video capability. I never make use of that capability. No video!

Simply, it depends. After burning up the sensor on a Nikon D600 from shooting continuous video, I switched and now dedicate my cameras to photographic or videographic purposes:

D750 (x2) Photos 100%

D7100 Photos 100%

Z50 Video 100%

Best Regards,

BT

So would that be 66% photos and 33% video?

I like having video capability. For example, came in handy in Africa for leopard hollowing out an antelope. I am also like a frog, don't see any bird smaller than a Rhino until it moves, so I shoot as fast as the camera will shoot in many cases. I've never checked my shutter counts, but so far no failures, shoot eclipses at one photo every 10 seconds for hours.

SO, how much still (%) and how much video (%)?

OP wants to know how MUCH of each one does, not WHAT one does, or HOW one feels about it.

90/10; 95/5?, but the five/10 is worth every dollar it costs, if there is any cost.
