Video = 0.1%
I bought a video camera years ago but did not use the output so do not use it now (too big)
My camera requires a switch change before it takes video. I plan to use it for short (short) video clips as needed as soon as I learnt o use it.

I have had occasion to do a couple quick-and-dirty videos with my DSLR. (Not THAT kind of dirty videos). They were not meant for anything beyond documentation. Having done so, I find that I suck at video. I'm sure I could improve with practice, but the time and inclination are not there.

You get one chance to photograph the tape breaking as the runner crosses the finish line, showing him the winner. Can you catch that shot with one click of the shutter? Chances are SLIM. Can you get it at 10fps? If you time the shutter press right, maybe, but a lot better chance.

You seem unaware of current advances in stills photography.

Just one single activation of the shutter button gets me at least 60 chances, not merely one or ten.

And that 60 frames includes 30 frames BEFORE activation of the shutter button.

This is NOT a “spray and pray” mode. The results are so reliable that there’s simply no longer any need to pray ;-)

I was (past tense) in the camp of 100% still photography; never had a use for the video option; questioned why Nikon even bothered to add it; always wanted a Nikon DSLR that shot stills only. That is...until I took our one and only grandchild on her first real vacation, to the Pac North Wet, then to Disneyland to see Galaxy's Edge the week it opened, June 2019. I kick myself all the time for NOT having learned to use the video option on both my D7100 and D850 before then; I figured it out a week after we got back from Disneyland. Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!
When I go out hunting for photo ops now I do not pass up any opportunity to shoot video. Occasionally I go out with the intention of capturing video only. There is an auxiliary power plant and a huge oil refinery within a half hour; both facilities generate steam plumes and on cold days I get some very cool video of those plumes. One of my favorite lenses for video is a Nikon 70-200 f/2.8. Glad I had video figured out when I went to Seattle, WA for New Years 2020, got some cool panorama stills and video from the revolving deck of the Space Needle. The D850 shoots in camera time lapse....OH YES! I wish my D7100 had that capability. As for getting gear dedicated solely to video, not really; I do not want to have to carry two camera systems with when I am out.

Just intrigued to find out what we do use our DSLR/MILC cameras for? (don't count the "I wonder what this button does?" occasions when you accidentally find yourself with a video file)

I'll begin the survey with my "stats" - here they are:

Photography 100% Videography 0%

Before I had a great grandson, it was 100% photography. Now it’s maybe 5% video, especially with the Fuji, since video is much easier than with my Sony. It will probably be more once we are safe to visit more often.

50/50 for me. That is why I use Lumix GH series cameras. Their AUDIO is usable, the video is excellent, and the stills are great for 98% of my work. If I need to photograph action or wildlife, I’ll rent, but otherwise, my GH4 is great.

I probably use my Olympus E-1X and E-M1 about 40% video and 60% stills

I shoot with a Nikon D 7100 camera and if I am photographing an event in which there is a performance, dancing, or other interesting movement I occasionally switch over to video and will record some video in and around the stills of the event that I want to capture. For example, while shooting stills at a Moroccan restaurant at Epcot at some point in the evening a bellydancer came out and began her dance--I shot several stills of her and then switched to video to capture a few minutes of her dance. I also have a very good digital video camcorder (a Panasonic HD T-900) which I never use anymore--I have found that my Nikon digital camera captures videos as good as my video camcorder and at as good of a resolution. I have been a digital photographer for 20+ years and have done a lot of travel photography in Canada, England, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Thailand, Japan and (most recently) India. My Nikon D 7100 with a Tamron 18--270 mm lens has been wonderful and served my needs in all of those countries and I have captured wonderful still images as well as videos throughout. Video examples include a Fado performance in Lisbon, a Geisha's dance in Kyoto, soldiers marching in front of the Royal Palace in London, the waterfalls of the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, a native dance in the North of Thailand (Chiang Mai-Chiang Rai) performed by a tribe high up in the hills, some of the fabulous street performers in Barcelona, a dance performance in Sorrento, Italy of the "Tarantella" and some of the lost tribes of Gujarat, India speaking to our guide in their native dialects and the translator's translation of what was said into English.
