I do a very small amount of video but when I do, I am glad to have the ability!

Just intrigued to find out what we do use our DSLR/MILC cameras for? (don't count the "I wonder what this button does?" occasions when you accidentally find yourself with a video file)

I'll begin the survey with my "stats" - here they are:

Photography 100% Videography 0%

100% Photography, 0% Videography. Yes, but with a few accidentally started video files and later get deleted. Oddly perhaps, years ago I did try a little videography with a digital PnS of pets running around. I was not good at it so never even tried it with one of my DSLRs that does video.

I, unknowingly, accidently, hit the vid button on the top of my R5 and don't get a still I was aiming for. Or get I insane videos of the whirligig of my walk. Hate it. Any way to disable the vid button? Never shoot videos on purpose.

Same here, missed getting planned still shot for video nonsense with my Fujifilm X-100T.

Hey, Bugs as put a blob or glob of glue or tape on top of the video button. The first few times you hit the blob or glob, you'll cuss but then you won't do thar again.

Its nothing like video. At 10fps, 20fps and 30 fps or any where in-between you will capture images you never could before, once you get accustomed.

Of course if you never shoot fast moving subjects its not needed.

100% stills for me. I wish the video button was programable.

Video has much less resolution than still. Individual frames are usually horrible. Video is different from burst mode.

100% photography. Video doesn’t interest me. My main camera doesn’t have video.

I have been fascinated by photography and cameras since I was 8-years old but never wanted a "movie" camera. I had occasion to be on movie-sets as a stills photographer, at least a dozen times,s and I read the "Americal Cinematographer" magazine to study some incredible lighting methods- never got the video bug! I have too much respect for GOOD Cinematography and Videography to mess around with something I have little or no skill in. If I ever did become interested, I would acquire dedicated video cameras.

Dyed in the world still photographer! 100%

I have 4 cams and a phone that can do video. One is a videocam... The video button on my new A7c is programmed to give me the enlarged image in my EVF or on the screen to facilitate better focussing. I only use the dedicated videocam for video at the moment, but may have a use for the 4k video on the Sony one of these days...

8K video resolution isn't bad at all. Higher than many still cameras.

I use my cameras 100% for stills. I have shot a very few videos with my phone.

I like to have the video option on one device. However my D200 does not have it. I use a Nikon L310 cheap-O point-n-shooter which has a video option. There are times when I need to take a short video.
So I rarely use the video but I do like to have the option as I think many more also do too.

OK something is strange here. I shot stills for years. I am very appreciative of still photos that tell a story or are very creative in composition. I try and shoot artistic sometimes. I also shoot video of triathlons and running festivals.I use a Sony 10 bit camcorder and a Sony a7s II FF camera or bridge camera. And I extract good still frames from the video (not 4k not needed) tweak color adjust sometimes. Send to client the next day and they love using them as PR photos. I edit the videos for promo all year to next event. We can multi purpose our gear for different uses and intent. The value of creative imagery is one of my passions. I recently sold some gear and am building a Fuji kit. Fuji is amazing. It is a creative approach to photography. The color presets in the camera are great fun. The camera's are superb. They include everything and the culture of the company and people who
work in National Geo etc. Video is in our society way over the top. Don't use it. Problem solved.
