The bulb weight 2 lbs but no matter how much I tighten the screw the light slowly shifts down.
I have thought about grinding the surfaces with a dremel but maybe there is something better I never thought of.

Return it before you break it.

It’s apparently intended to point upward only. That would balance it. Look at its geometry.

Too smooth inside the pivot, bad design. Should be rough in the pivot to grip.

If the screw doesn't have enough threads, you might add a washer or two, or use a screw with more threads. Or, you might score a few radial lines on each side of the male part with your Dremel. Or, you may be able to spread the female side apart enough to insert a star washer or two. Do let us know how you resolve it. Good luck!

Take the assembly to a hardware store and get 2 star type lock washers (one for each side). You may also need a longer bolt.

Your not assuming Hogsters read the thread, are you ? My money says six pages worth of “add washers”.

BTW, just wondering, how do you store your memory cards ?

Use a fiber washer for friction. Lock washers mainly resist CCW slippage (unless you put one on both faces). Anywho a fiber washer is thinner.

I would mount that light onto a motor driven gimbal remotely controlled by a smartphone app.
