Yup, saw that and can't wait to see the hoards of people running to purchase it, as they think this will be the magic camera that will allow them to be the photographer they always dream they could be.
I'm sure Nikon is hoping to see the same thing.
Personally, I'll stick with what I have.

Z8 will probably repl. Z6II
The Z9 is not a replacement for the Z7 or Z7ii, and I don't believe the Z8, if, and/or when it comes out will be a replacement for the Z6ii. The Z9 is a "Pro" level mirrorless body, which is supposed to be the mirrorless equivalent to, or actually better than the Nikon D6, with a price point of around $6500.00 or so.
I know there are a lot of people who don't read the different camera brand "Rumor" websites, and will say its only a rumor until it is actually released. Nikon Rumors is one of the better rumor websites when it comes to putting out info as to what is and/or might be expected to be released in the future, at least from what I have seen and read in the past. Others may think differently.

Skipping the Z8???
There is also a Z8 in the works. The Z9 is really the replacement for the D6. The Z8 will likely be higher resolution, (61mp likely), but not be as high performance, (frame rate, video, focus tracking, etc), as the Z9.

My guess, 5,400. Hoping for <4,500. At 3k, I may have to try one.
B&H has said between 6k and 7k. My guess 6500, because that is the price of the Sony a1.
I am waiting for a Z5II model to add to my Z6. I will guess the price of the Z9 will be about $6500 not $3500. At that price, it will compete with the Z7II.
Z9 will have too much tech to be a sub $4000 camera, it will be the D5/D6 of Nikon’s mirrorless line to compete with the Canon R1 and Sony A1.

It will be at least $6500 if not more.
If dreams were easy, why do they have price tags?

Dreams are easy
.... It's making them come true that has the price tag
Do you have any dreams you'd like to sell?
$6,500-7,000 is probably what the market will tolerate. Any guesses as to mpx or fps rate?
I'm not interested in rounding up $6,500 for a proposed new model based on a single image (yup, that's all I've seen) of what they think it may look like.......yet.

Don't worry, you do not need to round up $6,500; the Z9 is not yet for sale. It could be more than that anyway; maybe $8,000 and we are all guessing.

That was my next question....it's anybodies guess how Nikon chooses it's model's.

We all have received a lot of 'Coming Soon!' product ticklers over the years that just didn't arrive within our MUST HAVE! time frames. Since I've experienced this sometimes unrequited optimism too often, leading to boredom when the product is a reality, any product with the 'coming soon' label is regarded as vaporware until it actually is physically available at whatever price-point.
