There are lots of spectacular places to photograph , oftentimes , close to home. Most of the State and National Parks in your home state are beautiful places. At least here in Texas. Also in Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana, etc. all within a days drive from NE Texas.

Just watched a PBS program on the national parks. One could not go wrong with your list. Pure beauty.

For many of us, we sometimes only get so many opportunities for one reason or another (sometimes our health or money), to go to special places to photograph. Where would you want to return to shoot or want to go for the first time? I know it will be hard for some to choose, but it may give others some ideas since they are important to you.
Mine, in no special order:
1. Grand Caynon (return) An unbelieveable place. I would seriously live there.
2. Canadian Rockies (return) Been once but did not have enough time to explore. Never seen so many stars at night.
3. Italy (Desire)
4. Japanese Gardens (Desire)
Add extra lines only if necessary!
For many of us, we sometimes only get so many oppo... (show quote)

I like all the above but:

I'd have to add Monument Valley

I drove from Connecticut to the California coast twice; each route was different and I stayed off of the Interstates as much as possible. I had to move on each day because I wanted to spend time with my grandson (and his parents) in California. He is now back in Connecticut. I would like to take the drive again (and again) by different routes.
I would like to spend three or four weeks in Utah revisiting the big five.
I would like to visit the north rim of the Grand Canyon for the first time.
I would like to visit Monument Valley during the day time.
I would like to visit Arcadia National Park for the first time.

I planned on driving to and from the west coast this past September and October, but Covid killed that idea. I wasn't afraid of getting the disease; I was unsure if the country would remain relatively open.

Yosemite used to be near the top of my bucket list but I have seen so many images from there that I no longer have a desire to get there.

I liked the person who suggested Mordor; I would like to visit the locations in New Zealand where Peter Jackson worked his magic in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

First time to AZ I totally dismissed the Grand Canyon....BIG MISTAKE! Went there a couple years after; had to go back a second time during that trip. Standing on the rim is mind numbing for me; the place is amazing.

Any place along the Oregon Pacific Coast; seen parts of it twice.

A float trip down the Columbia River, from its headwaters in Canada, all the way to Astoria, OR.

If you ever go to Falling Water, be sure to check out the other Wright building just about around the corner, Kentuck Knob, and another couple at Polymath Park.

Not sure it's really the loneliest road in America, I would guess that the Dalton Highway to Barrow Alaska is more lonely, but the Nevada highway is somewhat interesting. Have to get off the highway to see the most interesting stuff though.

Try driving through the Continental Basin (AKA Great Divide Basin) in Wyoming. And if you're unfamiliar with the Continental Basin, I'm sure that you've heard of the Continental Divide, where you're told that the rain that falls on the Eastern side eventually makes its way to the Atlantic Ocean, while rain to the West of the Divide flows to the Pacific. Well, the Continental Basin is where the Continental Divide splits in two and then reconnects later meaning the any rain that falls inside the Continental Basin flows into NEITHER the Atlantic nor the Pacific. It goes nowhere. It stays in the Basin. But don't think that there's some big lake or something there, as there is not because very little rain or snow ever falls in the Basin. It's pretty dry, but it still has a certain character to it and parts of it are quite picturesque.

I'm ready to resume traveling to wherever for vacation. Really enjoy Western US, red rock areas and NW Pacific Coast. Hopefully return to Zion and Grand Canyon soon. Alaska is probably my all time favorite. Loved it so much I made it my home over 35 years ago and still haven't see it all.

1. Grand Canyon NP [been to numerous times, North Rim, South Rim, Phantom Ranch, Clear Creek, backpacks, Arizona Strip 4x4]
2. Canyonlands NP, actually the entire Moab area [been to several times, Island, Needles, hiking, camping, 4x4]
3. Glacier NP [been to twice, but can't wait to get back there]
4. Alaska [want to go; would have been there last summer except for Covid]

My wife and I went to Alaska in 2006, rented a motorhome from ABC Motorhomes located right by the airport in Anchorage. I recommend this way of seeing the state.
