For many of us, we sometimes only get so many opportunities for one reason or another (sometimes our health or money), to go to special places to photograph. Where would you want to return to shoot or want to go for the first time? I know it will be hard for some to choose, but it may give others some ideas since they are important to you.
Mine, in no special order:
1. Grand Caynon (return) An unbelieveable place. I would seriously live there.
2. Canadian Rockies (return) Been once but did not have enough time to explore. Never seen so many stars at night.
3. Italy (Desire)
4. Japanese Gardens (Desire)

Here's an airfare saver - been there, photographed it - very well done. Link https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g60795-d562260-Reviews-Shofuso_Japanese_House_and_Garden-Philadelphia_Pennsylvania.html

Not a great fan of Grand Canyon - a failing in myself, I'd guess, just can't grasp the scale. Oak Creek Canyon, on the other hand...

What a great topic. I guess the top four places I have visited (courtesy of the U.S. Navy), but I wasn't into photography at the time.

1. Andalucia province of Spain. Once travel becomes safer, we go almost every year to visit family. Our next trip is going to be more focused on traveling around now that the kids are older.
2. Santorini, Greece. I was 20 years old and unfortunately most of my time was spent doing what young Sailors do.
3. Corsica. I have seen it many times from a distance in my many deployments through the Med.
4. Sagres, Portugal. Again, while I was living in Spain we went there for a weekend trip, but being in my early 20's we joined in the festivities of all the other Europeans on holidays.

Well, I’ve been going there over 50 years and have hundreds of days and thousands of images. I’ve also been around the world including Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, and Australia and minor places like Bahamas and Puerto Rico...and of course Alaska multiple times.

Nothing comes close to Yellowstone National Park.

If you go back to the Grand canyon, go to the North Rim this time. I found it even more spectacular than the more-visited South Rim.

Yes - there are lots of wonderful places listed above - great to see - great for shooting - but my photographic aspirations are for capturing pics (SOOC) but with PP, which are different - but worth displaying.
I guess in a decade of UH membership I must have seen several hundred pics of the Grand Canyon, to the point that they become boring - and I know that is a very sad admission.
I have only managed to shoot about one really different photo per year - but the search is worth it. Apart from that, I do what most everyone else does - and produce postcard pics - (even if they are 16x20) getting pleasure out of good composition and good exposure.

I am not an accomplished world traveler. Places I have been = Spain, Australia, Canada, Lesser Antilles, etc.
Without question, I would return to the Canadian Rockies and the Lesser Antilles.
