I saw this juvenile with the tail drooping. From a distance I thought it may have been an injury of some sort. Turns out the tail feathers were heavily coated with ice. I wondered if this heavy load would affect the maneuverability of the eagle and the ability to catch fish. As the pictures will show it didn’t seem to affect the eagle at all. I hope you all enjoy the athleticism displayed here. The eagle will probably be stronger once all the ice melts.

I’ve seen a few cases of snow frozen to eagles’ tails, but NEVER such load as this juvie is cursed with! Absolutely
amazing!Excellent documentation!

Very nice set of images!!!
I do however find the black strips at the top and bottom a bit distracting.

My fault on the strips. I didn’t notice while I was posting them. I have a backward way of getting photos uploaded. I email them to myself then open on my ipad and save them. To keep them in order I will screen shot them in order to get the sequence right. I then post the screen shots. I screwed up somewhere this time around. I agree. Very distracting.
