You can make fun of it, that's ok.
I remember I visited a glacier in the Alpes when I was a kid. A massive glacier standing at the foot! I went back after 25 years. I had to to use my binoculars to spot the glacier from the same spot. You can't tell what the state of the climate is by only looking at the weather in the US at a moment in time.
By the way, the glaciers in Alaska are melting pretty fast as well...
