Many don't know that the London Bridge actually lives and breathes in Lake Havasu City Arizona. It was acquired in an auction for about 3 million dollars and taken apart block by block, numbered, shipped to the USA, transported to the desert town of Lake Havasu where they reconstructed it on a stretch of land for another 3 million or so. Then they dug a channel under the bridge to connect two parts of Lake Havasu, forming an island of sorts. This was done by Robert McCulloch to help attract people to buy land here. Yes he was the one who built chainsaws and boat motors and other items.

At the time it was said that the buyer thought they were buying Tower Bridge.
Personally, I never bought into that one.

He also didn't actually win the bid, but because of what he wanted to do with the bridge, reconstruct instead of dismantle and sell the pieces.

Nice photos - thanks for the good memories! I've driven under it many times in my ski boat and over it pulling my boat.
Cheers,
Don

I like the low angle of the shot. Great composition. If I remember, the bridge was put together piece by piece.

I understand that when he purchased this bridge he was under the misconception that he purchased the the tower bridge.
I have a bridge for sale if anyone is interested.

Lovely photos of a lovely bridge. I had heard that the buyer thought he was buying the Tower Bridge and was somewhat disappointed that it was not.

That was something that was put out there, but I think it has been disproved. How is your winter weather in Dallas?
