I have been searching for this lens for about 2 months. I’ve even written Nikon but they would not say when it might be available. Any of you out there that do business with local reputable camera shops give me a heads up and I’ll give them a call. I want to purchase new. Thank you in advance.

B&H has more on the way but they don't say how soon.

Ihave a NIKON 200-500 refurbished by Nikon. I bought it on Apr 2016, and a few months later I suffer an stroke.
This lense have not been used due to my inability to handle it. I bought some Vivitar filters for lens protection and
the lens bracket. If interested, please email me at jdserv7@aol.com. Thanks Leo

Wow, they must be in short supply. I got mine from MPB a year ago and it was only $914 in excellent condition.

A steal! Used? Or did you sneak in after dark? Mine bought @ three years ago was $1250 new.

Used, but the used they linked to is also excellent condition at MPB and it’s almost $1200

I bought mine on sale from Best Buy. You may have to order it and pick it up in a week or so. I did a web search of the local Best Buy store out of curiosity, and Best Buy does not have any in stock within a 250 mile radius of me. I have no idea why these are now difficult to find.

Where are you located? I'm in NJ, and do business with The Photo Center in Brick, NJ. Very reputable. Google them, give them a call. They got me my impossible to find Nikon 500mm f5.6 PF in 3 weeks while others ordering from the NY stores were waiting close to a year.

Edit - also Crutchfield's in Maryland or Virginia, and Allen's in Levittown, PA. A good friend swears by Allen's, and I have purvhased hard-to-find equipment from Crutchfield's.

I purchased one in May 2019 refurbished from NikonUSA. It went to Kenya, East Africa with me later that year, mounted on a rented D7100 (my own D7100 wore the Nikon 18-200VR2 lens). I wore my camera on the strap and put the rented one (with the heavy lens) on the seat next to me in the 4x4 vehicle. The 200-500VR2 lens worked very well. I'm planning to do the same thing on my upcoming Alaska tour.
