Thank you to all who have responded. I just ordered the Tamron 150-600 G2 after researching all afternoon.

I was in the same situation for months with the 500 f/5.6 when they hit the streets New York shops were like...We will let you know when they come in...I started checking around & there is a major outlet based out of Detroit/Cleveland www.procam.com They had 3 of the 500 lenses in stock. Another very reputable place to trfy is RobertsCamera https://robertscamera.com/ (Indiaanapolis, In) Also if they do not have any, ask if they know of other major shops besides the New York & follow up that way

You won't be sorry, i purchased the G2 after testing it out side by side with a rented 200-500 & sigma 150-600 c.
I am very happy with it.
I don't understand when people have said they wont buy tamron, they have really upped there game the last few years, esp. with there SP line.

I am a member but reading posts mainly to learn from members than posting. If you change your mind of purchasing a new one, I have a used one that I bought new from BHPhoto to consider. It is still under 5 year warranty. I also bought a kirk Enterprises foot KH-450 for this lens. It is rarely used since it is a little heavy for me. Attached are pictures of my lens for your consideration. I still have box and paper. I am looking for $950, including shipping in the US. i sold my D-500 and now use Z6 for landscape photography. i plan to buy Z lenses and plan to sell all my FX lenses on Craigslist in Los Angeles/Orange County area. I would prefer you to come and check it out than to send it to you. I have other lenses for sale from 16mm fisheye, 20mm F1.8, 35mm f/2, 60mm F/2.8, 85mm F1/8, 105mm F/2.8, 70-200 F2.8 G VR, 24-120mm F/4. I have to disagree here. I’ve used the III model and not only is there a clear drop off in IQ, but it also really affects focus speed. It only works with fairly static subjects. I get much better results by cropping.
