We have some epi pens - our middle/special needs child is horribly allergic to bee, wasp etc.

And the schools I taught at all nurses had epi pens and all staff took yearly training/refresher in use of same. Every student who needed one had special permission to carry one and all teachers whose class they were in signed a notice of that student's presence in their classes.

Well, once when Los Angeles schools went on a "Zero Tolerance" rampage the people downtown "ordered" nurses to confiscate all epi pens and inhalers, meds etc. and require students to go to the office to use them. They sprang this by surprise without notifying school admin - just phone calls to the nurses. Most nurses ignored them and most school admin backed them up. But the school where I taught at the time had a new, young nurse-first month on the job. So she was following the order (she thought the school admin knew about it-they didn't-it was found buried in the usual Monday morning flood of e-mails to the Principal and APs).

One of my first period students arrived at class in tears over it - she had severe asthma - and the nurse kept her emergency inhaler. I sent her to the principal's secretary (who really runs the office) with a quick note threatening to help her parents sue the district and the biggest football player in my class (I told him "If she has an attack-carry her to the nurse!") and one of the other girls as an escort. Twenty minutes later she returned all smiles waving her inhaler. I was on the phone with the office being thanked for letting them know what happened so I just pulled my inhaler out of my pocket and waved it back at her. Our school admin had all meds, epi pens and inhaler's returned, the nurse was informed she could ignore downtown on this (she was relieved also, it had worried her to take those emergency items) and downtown was informed they were idiots - and the Principal told them she would join me in helping parents sue the district if necessary. In two days (warp speed for LAUSD) the rules were changed and all schools had special assemblies and staff meetings to "clarify" things.

The first time I was in a training session about epi pens the instructor handed me a dummy pen and asked me what to do with it. My response was what the Army taught me in CBR training. I smashed the end of the pen into my thigh hard enough to make sure it would penetrate the cloth of my pants. The instructor and the other teachers in the class all jumped and the instructor commented that that would sure do the job. But added, I think we can do it a little less forcefully in the school environment.

As to all vaccine sites having epi pens on hand - the medical people I trust - but not the politicians and bureaucrats. Hey, an anti-stupid vaccine, we could really use some of that in 55 gallon drums by the truck load.

I only comment because I don’t want someone to choose death or disability because ignorance is put forward as fact. The vaccine is safe and effective. Covid is very dangerous and everyone not vaccinated will eventually get infected. Make your choice. Because of treatment advances, the vaccine is no longer like playing Russian roulette with a 20 chamber pistol, but it’s close enough for my tastes.

These articles are just an example of how you can find a comment on the Internet proving anything that you want. Following radical websites from any political spectrum without exercising critical thinking is a certain path to be manipulated and a frightening way to live life. The quoted site regarding vaccines is manipulative and straight out wrong. It’s much like trusting a plumber for definitive advice on a bladder cancer because, much like a bladder and urethra, a plumber works on fluid in pipes and containers.

Covid is still very dangerous. I personally know a dozen people who have died from COVID and another 25 plus who are still struggling with disabilities caused by the infection. The new variant from South Africa is very worrisome. I hope people are wise enough to ignore the anti vaccers. They peddle in ignorance, fear and paranoia.

I am 78 y/o and have practiced medicine since 1968. If the people that made the vaccine say to get 2 doses then that is what I did. Only fools argue with the manufacturers regarding how to use the product. They did all the studies. They know their product.

Your wisdom is greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, those people who are anti-vaccine, or see masks and social distancing as "political" oppression or an infringement of their "rights" are beyond redemption. Their conspiracy theories and the warped media they are slavishly following will not permit them to see anything that is science based or is even common sense. I have a family member who I used to consider intelligent, but now she adheres to these extreme theories: the virus was manufactured in a Chinese lab for the express purpose of dethroning Trump, the Hunter Biden laptop will reveal all of Joseph Biden's graft in China and Ukraine, Russia did not hack our government agencies, and "it" will all come out. "It" is undefined and there have been several "Its". Oh yeah, the internet will go down, all the credit cards will become unusable, there will be fuel and cash shortages, etc. As a physician you will love this: The number of deaths caused by the coronavirus has been greatly inflated so that doctors can make more money by reporting them versus other causes of death. So, if a person has cancer, heart disease, diabetes, renal failure, obesity, etc. and they contract COVID-19 and die, she believes the cause of death should be the preexisting condition, not the virus. When I try to explain that people can live years with those conditions, but the virus wiped them out, she can't accept that logic. Sorry for the diatribe.

I know a few people like this. One is recovering after two weeks in the hospital from COVID-19 and a changed person as a result of almost dying. His attitude is a lot different now... I would have to conclude having COVID-19 is a cure for stupidity!

Sadly, we will be seeing obits for those who refuse to believe science and refuse the vaccine. It is inevitable, like the sun rising. I hope patman1 gets the mild infection. Older individuals die daily from all kinds of conditions, and the vaccine won’t protect from other causes of death. But it will save those who get the vaccine from deaths from COVID.

Since you seem to rely on a right biased, faith based site, rather than listen to scientists and the medical profession, your opinion is unsubstantiated by facts. The site you quote provides some facts and a lot of conspiracy crap. It is doubtful, but if you can, try absorbing information that is untainted. Go to Associated Press or Reuters, which have been judged to be unbiased news sources. But, since they don't conform to your already entrenched and fantasy based ideology, you will probably discount them as unreliable sources.

Which of course, as you realize, is ludicrous.
Hospitals are reimbursed more if Covid appears on the death certificate (even if only a contributing factor and NOT the "cause of death") to help pay for the increased overhead. Payment to doctors is not affected.

Actually your assertion is nonsense too. Hospitals do not determine cause of death. Coroners do. Hospitals do not get paid based on cause of death. Every covid patient causes them to lose money because they have to turn away elective surgeries...which is where they and doctors make money.

I know this as a fact because my son is president of a local hospital. He and all senior staff are on 40% salary reduction because covid is causing hospitals to lose huge sums of money. And many staff are laid off because covid doesn’t use surgeries.
