I've never found chemicals to be a mess. In fact, they're cleaner than cooking. At least when I'm using them.

Are you letting a mirror hold you back from the photographer you were meant to be?
If you are using a DSLR as an excuse for taking poor photos, I've got some news for you: You suck at photography. Period!
This has been a fun set. No real information but fun. Professional photographers buy what they need, like mechanics buy Snap-On not made in China junk. Amateurs' buy what they can afford, or if they are fortunate, they buy they buy the "latest and greatest" regardless of if they need it or not.
The only thing I know is that if your subject moves, fast glass is more important than the latest and greatest camera unless you need fast burst speed and big buffers for that 1 in 100 successful spray and pray shot.
Most of the commenters here today have been known to write things like "It's the photographer, not the equipment that makes the shot" or "A good photographer can take great shots with any camera".

The rest of us which are in the majority agree with you…folks in different (or no) camps are still camping successfully…they're just camping differently…and we know that camping is successful despite not being in the "only my camp is good" category.
Some folks like tents, some 5th wheel RVs, some class A RVs, some state parts, some out in the deep woods, some in resort campgrounds. It's still camping no matter which way you do it.
I've noticed that those in the "One True Camp" category tend to have pithy posts with supposedly deep psychological meaning that the rest of us are just to deplorable to understand and comprehend.

It's called Glamping these days. Glamorous Camping. I'm in a 5th wheel RV because doing it full time in a tent just doesn't seem to be practical.
I am interested in purchasing an RV class C. Still doing my research. I don’t want any slide outs. I also learned is important to have a back up Generator.
Curmudgeon, that was the intent of the post. Primarily, a bit of fun with Paul and enjoy where it went from there. I never intended it to become anything more than that.
I agree with you on all the cliche' quoters, "It's the photographer, not the equipment that makes the shot" or "A good photographer can take great shots with any camera".

My entry was a fun entry. I consider myself an armature in photography though I have used a number of cameras from a Brownie, Canon R-2000, 4X5 Speed Graphic, Super D Graflex, and now a Canon EOS 7D, yes I know it is a cropped sensor!! I've done a modest amount of my own darkroom work in the past and thoroughly enjoyed it. I take pictures because I like to. If you have a problem with this it is your problem and not mine. Looking over the pictures in the Ugly Hedgehog my entries are better than many and certainly not as good as many. I don't claim to be a professional.
Even a smartphone, Bob?
“A good photographer can take great shots with any camera".
That would depend on the planned end result.

Good points. Those persons ‘locked into’ one camp (maybe ‘mirrorless’ or ‘full frame’ or . . . ‘?’) seem to think there is only ‘one true answer’ that must be applicable to everyone. This is patently FALSE.
Still waiting for a 4 X 5 mirrorless process camera with a 200 Mp digital back . . . .

Why are you going to choose failure when a mirrorless camera is an option?
Failure? What failure?
Those persons ‘locked into’ one camp (maybe ‘mirrorless’ or ‘full frame’ or . . . ‘?’) seem to think there is only ‘one true answer’ that must be applicable to everyone. This is obviously wrong.

Running joke, hang loose......
I just thought of this. That is not a mirrorless camera.

Some of my best photos were taken with this.
2 1/4X 3 1/4
A true gem.
Even has an auto iris.
I'm not saying I have taken a lot of excellent photos, but this is a great camera and fun to use.
