Is it a Leica or a Sony? Those are Leica prices.

It’s not the only Leica priced non-Leica body. But the Leica $$ is in the lenses.

Once you involve 2 or 3 lens outfits only Leica outfits are Leica priced. A Sony a1 outfit is only 3 or 4 thou $$ more than my current Sony outfit. To swap out my whole Sony outfit to Leica would cost 15 or 20 thou $$.

And for that $$ I would be minus all the performance benefit of the a1. All I’d be getting with Leica is a box containing an outdated sensor, plus a large steaming heap of useless optical prestige.

Hope it's not priced beyond reach.

Chelsea N will have to change brands again.

Not if you consider $6,500 within reach.

I don't know about not being priced beyond reach. $6500 puts it beyond my reach.

Imagine your photography if you only had the best equipment.

Can NOT imagine that. Considering my outstanding ability, imagining the result of channeling all that talent through the ultimate gear hugely boggles the mind.

I heard somewhere around $6700.00 hard-earned US dollars.

If you are going to buy the top of the line Sony for sports or wildlife photography, then either you have or are going to buy a 400mm f/2.8 ($12,000) and/or the 600mm f/4 ($13,000). No prosumer 200-600mm lens ($1,900) for this baby.

If people envy your professional gear, that's worth something, isn't it?

That's very true.
If you are going to aim to shoot with pro's, you will need the very best equipment out there.
It's a competition after all.

This is great for the photographer. The more innovation the better and as long as Cannon and Sony keep on innovating the changes will eventually find their way down the food chain to the average Joe. I only wish that there are more than 2 competing with each other but the market just will not support a third company competing although that would be great for all of us. The consumer wins when there is competition.

Canon will step up... no worries there.
Nikon? Bad news for Nikon.

Nikon should be releasing the Z9 (rumored name) this year that will rival this camera.

Mere mortals would draw the line far below these babies. My hands reach the bottom of my pockets.

I ordered one. The cost is relative. People who are less well-off as I am would buy $50,000 cars. I am happy with my Prius and Hyundai Electric cars.

This is a game-changer of a camera. It can replace an A9, a A7S3 and a A7R4 with one camera. The specs are mind-boggling.

There are more people buying this camera than you think. The B&H website crashed this morning at 10am when preorders started.
