TriX, I'll let ya know how the Durham County Health Department went tomorrow. Duke is booked waay out but I understand the process went well at Southern. I was just trying to get mine onboard sooner seeing I was going to be dealing with the public trying to get their shots. From my nurse friend that got the 2nd Pfizer you may want to think about Tylenol and hydrate. (She said she felt like duck-pucky for about a day and a half)

Good to know (and let us know how your experience went). I’ll get my wife to go along to drive me back in the event I feel bad - mine is in Chapel Hill.

I got my appointment for the first shot today. I am scheduled for Valentines Day. Now I feel like a short timer in a combat zone and I don't like the feeling.

Got my Moderna COVID shot on Tuesday. Shoulder is a bit sore but no other complaints. Next shot is scheduled for 4 weeks out. I was lucky. I was on line looking for information when WA changed its requirements to anyone 65 or over and I was able to get an appointment at a Safeway pharmacy. Very efficient took about 20 minutes including the 15 minute post vaccination observation period. All appointments were filled within the hour. Like I said, I was very lucky and realize that.

Great to hear how many are taking advantage of the vaccine and being able to book the appointment to get it! The side effects of the vaccine can be a bit tough in some cases (so is the shingle vaccine) but nowhere as bad as getting COVID-19. Not only the hospitalizations and deaths from COVID but the lingering symptoms that some individuals are suffering from (the long haulers). My son who works in a hospital and has allergies (like me) has had both shots and was fine and I am scheduled for my first shot next week. Can't wait!

Just back from getting my first round of the Pfizer vaccine. It was done by appointment at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, a Nascar track for those who don't know. There was a documentation and questionnaire point right outside the track that was a slight bottleneck then you entered the track through the pit area. That documentation area meant I had the whole track to myself once I entered with not a car in sight behind or in front... It took all the willpower I have not to floor it through the turns! After driving the whole track I was directed back off through a gate that led to the garages where the shots were given without me leaving the car. I had about a 10 minute wait there for my turn and then out to a parking lot where they made you wait for another 15 minutes to make sure you had no immediate reaction. It was easy and fun! It's been about an hour now since I got stuck and so far no reaction at all, not even a sore arm.

Wide open track, you have more will power than I do. I would have punched it. Hope all goes well.

Surprising how steep that banking in the turns is until you actually get on it, isn’t it? We rented the track one day to do some vehicle acoustic testing, and one of the NASCAR teams asked us to use it for testing after we were finished.

That's sooo cool. Been there a couple of times to watch 'em go left. Maybe I should change my appointment and head your way! My daughter went to Wingate and we went into Charlotte a number of times. From what I understand the 2nd Pfizer shot is the (ahem) problem child. As I told TriX, my nurse friend that got it said it wasn't horrible just take Tylenol and hydrate. I'm figuring it's about the same as the second shingles shot... 36 hours of yuckyness.

My son woke up in the middle of the night with a fever and headache. He's and MRI Tech and in contact with patients throughout the day. My wife and I thought immediately that he'd contracted Covid. The we learned that he'd gotten his vaccine that day. Problem solved.

What an innovative & fun way to get inoculated!
I’m wondering if our local sky diving could come up with a similar experience.

I am so glad this was posted. I meant to go online to see if they were taking appointments in our area yet, and had forgotten until I read this post. I checked with our local hospital and they were taking appointments, my mother-in-law (87) is Feb. 9th, I am (69)Feb. 10th. My wife is ten years younger so have to wait for her. So we will continue to wear masks at least until she gets hers.
