the Floyd video did not require talking heads...

Talking about different formats, I always liked the 60 minutes concept, where (while politics can't be avoided) at least it is not about sound bites, but twenty or so minutes of in depth reporting.

But anyway, when the news media throws away the concept of Truth, we all suffer for it. I used to consider them the fourth pillar of our democracy, no more.

I think we’ll be seeing some live theater pretty soon.

I vote that church and government go back to being separate. Ministers, preachers, pastors, priests are all culpable. Some recognize that after the coup attempt, but many more need a ‘come to Jesus” talk.

That goes for both left and right for different reasons. I have no patience for pastors who say Christians can't support a candidates because of x, y, z. They should stay out of politics.

I’m okay with them preaching about my individual spirituality, but do it based on scripture and without demonizing others for their beliefs. Church laws are fair game, civil ones are not.

sigh... I was raised as a catholic but my wife is a bible Baptist. I spent many years sitting in the pews being demonized until I hit a point where I was desensitized to it. For decades, it seemed like everything I heard was about abortion or about gays and lots of good-ol-Catholic-bashing.

This morning, I heard what I heard and it didn't bother me much (I'm desensitized after all), but my wife got HOT. I believe the George Floyd incident made her more sensitive to the plights of others and she started digging and finding out how real systemic racism has been (and is).

The major tenant of Christianity should be about caring for others. Most Christians that I know don't have that particular skill and I find them to be the cruelest people that I know.

True, it was about twenty years ago I realized the same thing and stopped going to church.

Everyone has an inner Pharisee. If Christians that you know are cruel then I'd question whether or not they are Christian. Many who profess to be aren't.

things get hijacked.. like the Trump party hijacking the American Flag. Non Christians have hijacked Christianity. We, all-of-us, have an intense focus. But sometimes as we keep zooming in, we lose what we are about, and we become something that we did not intend.

A Trump protest get hijacked (not by Antifa) and becomes an insurrection. A presidency gets hijacked and becomes a twitter game show.

News becomes hijacked and become opinion.

Our lives become hijacked and we learn how to hate.

Hating is an indication that all is not well, and self introspection tells me that when I started to hate Trump, something good inside of me died.

Trump has made a lot of things... and a lot of people... ugly. If his presidency miraculously makes the US better than it was (and I don't mean economically/financially/militarily) than it may turn out to be a good thing. But the cost was VERY high!

Good points.

We are all capable of learning how to hate. I doubt something good inside you died but rather, it was overcome for a while. You can gain it back if you haven't already. Recognizing it and confronting it is something we don't like to do. But once we do we can let go. Been there myself and I don't want to go there again.

but why would Big Tech care? I can see MSM caring in that they might just be feeding people the shit that they want to hear, and by accident they created a feed-back loop. Personally I think something more sinister is going on.

For example, It is easy to argue and believe that China released the Virus on purpose to fight and destroy economies that they knew would be unable to fight it - since the people of free societies are at best difficult to control.

But why would our own people actively fight the wearing of masks and the need for social distancing and promote that the vaccine is not safe? (Or not a useful tool in fighting the Virus)

The worse the virus hits us, the worse our economy becomes.. That's the way I see it anyway..

They do not care for anything but the money, they make money from Advertisers that pay fees based on ratings.
