I bought a used D500 from KEH and I'm wondering what other owners are using for memory (XQD) cards.
Bought it mainly for BIF and other wildlife shots.
Update firmware and use CF Express, XQD on its way out except Sony products.

I'm using Lexar cards, which is what I've used from the start of digital photography. Best of luck.
I'm in Lexar also, but only available used now. You can update firmware and go CF Express B, but know it won't be any faster on the D500. The main benefit will be on your next camera, whatever that is.

I use the D500 with Sony XQD card. Extremely fast read and write. In my little opinion it is needed to achieve the high frame rate on continuous shooting. Have used these for past two years with no issue
Thanks to everyone for the responses. Lexar cards (with fast write speed) are very hard to find! Steve Perry's review of the D500 shows him using a 64GB 2933X Lexar, so that's what I've been looking for. Unfortunately, Lexar cards are not being produced anymore. I will give the Sony card a try.
Back in Dec. 2020 I ordered from Adorama Lexar 64GB CF card was $89.00 then.
I use either Sony or Lexar XQD cards. My XQD card reader is made by Sony. All have worked perfectly since I got my D500 and D850.

Those are CFExpress NOT XQD!! Lexar no longer makes any XQD cards!
Sony seems to be the only one making XQD and you can get them at BestBuy.
Greetings!
I use an XQD card on a Nikon Z7, and it is performing admirably. IMHO, the card is much more reliable and robust than SD cards, simply because there are no exposed pins. Also, the data rates are faster, and though I've had one or two SD card failures over the past 10 years, I've not yet seen an XQD card fail in camera yet.
I also use the XQD card on my Z6. Great card; it is much more rugged than an SD card and also faster.

cjc2 I know what they are, you might read from the beginning of the thread where I suggested to update the firmware on the D500 and use CF Express b.

Thanks for your insight. I DID read from the start of the thread, including your comment. The OP requested XQD and not CFE.
