The master of foreground strikes again! Really nicely done.

Agree completely. Pretty sneaky way to get us to "Really Look" at the whole image. What's next; Where's Waldo?"

A beautiful shot with the footprints in the snow. I really fail to see beyond that.

"Really Look" at a whole image? Do people actually do that?

Waldo was down at Dave's Corner Market, having a coffee and curing the woes of the world with Lou and Jake.

Jim, good thing we have the DDL capability. He and his dog a way off and the DDL found him. Love it, a great photo.

I'll admit that you caught me. Once explained, it's a great shot with great dof. Was it focus stacked? A must to DDL to fully appreciate. Well done!

Caught you? Caught you doing what, John? Something embarrassing? Its ok; you don't need to answer that.... And thanks.

But yeah, it was focus stacked. Mentioned that and included a detail crop on the preceding page you might've missed.

A typical Cany posting, and I say that appreciatively! With the caption, I knew that there had to be more than first met my eye. Damn it! I was enjoying the image, especially the foreground, but now find that my eye is continually drawn to that hiker and his dog.

Seriously, your use of focus stacking produces an amazing image, and is quite a work of art.

I take it that the truck arrived.

Yup. About an hour ago. Wish somebody'd make larger tanker trucks. I'm almost out already.

But there's always tomorrow's truck, so there's the possibility I might survive.

Re: the pic, though.... is there such a thing as a visual 'ear worm'? If not, its a pity.

And thanks, Grey.

The hiker and the dog maybe?

And for any who might be curious, or viewed the pic on an itsy-bitsy screen, I thought it might be wise (or foolish, you decide) to add this technical note:

The main image as posted was arrived at by the process of focus stacking. Because I find enjoyment in providing extreme near/far planes of focus in some images, its a process I use quite often. Its a process, however, that is not without the occasional challenge. Rather than going into the various ways the challenge can be met, it IS worth mentioning that subject movement is probably the biggest bugaboo that'll somehow need to be addressed. Or not. As the attached may show. In effect, the posted image was comprised of six individual exposures. Though only seconds elapsed from one exposure to the next while I (manually) re-focused, the hiker and his dog moved during those brief times. It was most uncivil of both, but challenge made, challenge met.
The hiker and the dog maybe? br br And for any wh... (show quote)

Great stuff, lots of fun.
