Not certain, and no way to scale it. Looks a bit like the one that hit my car. No bird expert here!

Quickdraw,

I used to have a stuffed version of this bird. It had flown into the side of a friends car. He saved it for me and I had another friend turn it into a half mount / half study skin. Had it for years from when I used to carve birds. Long long ago. I'm pretty sure its a Sharpshinned Hawk.

The birds and critters were noticeably absent this morning. Then we saw why. Apparently the song birds are not the only ones who appreciate the old Christmas tree standing by the feeders.

Sorry. For a change I intended to upload directly from my pc. Apparently I messed up.

Nice shot Bill

Nice shot. Quail are monopolizing our feeder. They are fat and happy.

I think it's a Coopers Hawk. The head is not as round as a Sharp-shinned Hawk.

Yuo could be correct. It just serms a tad small for a Coopers, and largr for a Shatpshinned as well.

I agree it's a Sharpie. There is always something "dainty" about such an effective killing machine. Really nice capture.

Thanks Jack.
Yea they are a mix of graceful and ruthless wrapped into a dainty ( good choice of words) package. Sorta like a 338 Lapua :)

I was thinking more of a H&H .600 nitro express.
