This is a bit complicated. I posted recently about my change in gear and work.
I acquired by first Fujifilm XT-3 camera and their 16 to 80 lens. The price was great on Black friday from B&H.
And I will sell or trade in most of my Sony cameras lens etc. I had some paying work and the Covid stopped
that. Mostly shooting sports running and triathlon work. And a couple of content marketing jobs. One was filming a famous Ballet School in FL for a year and it was a great experience. Only bad part was they neve paid my invoices. So I am reading (maybe inspired) shooters switching to Fujifilm. The acceptance of asp c cropped work and the excellence of their camera's end lens. I have full frame gear like the Sony a7s II a great camera. Pricing for others like me was an issue and accepting cropped sensor as very adequate for my work. I have been shooting shots or video for years. Want to sell my photo illustrations as consumer or gallery art. Or just enjoy imagery. Being a Art Director, Creative Director, Producer, videographer at this point is over. I am in my 70's and by luck very healthy
and still have a spring in my step. Unfortunately my wife had a stroke this year and is not well. So being home even with help need to help her.
The change was being creative and happy to use the tools. Fujifilm is a company that make many lens for movies high end cameras etc. They seem to improve the camera's constantly and don't have new products constantly.
This was the first time since my Pentax in my 20's that I picked up the camera and need a couple of weeks
to set it up. Did not buy the XT-4 to me it needs more time. Creating is a wonderful life. That is why I enjoy this forum even though the name is bazaar. Safe life and enjoy imagery everyone here.

As we look back and consider 2020, how did your photography change? We probably all made less trips. Did you visit / revisit new subjects closer to home? Did you change your camera bodies or focal lengths? What changes will you make for 2021?

What is a resolution?
A firm decision to do or not to do something.

Will you learn to better use your current equipment?

Will you learn your processing software?

Will you organize your legacy images?

Will you organize your new images?

Will you sell your unused and outdated equipment?

Will you ask for help?

Will you answer a request for help?

Will you use selective focus with an off-center AF point placed specifically on the subject?

Will you investigate higher ISOs?

Will you use your flash?

Will you use your tripod?

Will you try Back Button Focus?

Will you change to mirroless?

Will you create an image over the next 365 days that achieves your resolution?

After you practice buying new equipment, do you then practice your photography?

Happy New Year!

A firm decision to do or not to do something.

Will you learn to better use your current equipment? Always a learning experience...just started using custom setting on my 5DIV. Lot's more to play with too...

Will you learn your processing software? Definitely and already doing this...binging on courses like others binge on their favorite TV series.

Will you organize your legacy images? Already doing this.

Will you organize your new images? Already doing this.

Will you sell your unused and outdated equipment? Tough one here. I don't think I can part with my Minolta SRT's or Maxxum even though I have a Canon 5DIV....))) I might try some film shots one day.

Will you ask for help? Do so already as needed.

Will you answer a request for help? Have done and will continue do so. Always open to helping others.

Will you use selective focus with an off-center AF point placed specifically on the subject? Already do this as needed.

Will you investigate higher ISOs? Already doing this along with experimentation

Will you use your flash? Already do as needed as well as some experimenting.

Will you use your tripod? Already do as needed.

Will you try Back Button Focus? Done.

Will you change to mirroless? Nope. Not going to expend money on a mirrorless, yet. My next big purchase will be a Cassegrain (Schmidt or Maksutov) telescope (minimum 11-inch) with a CGE mount. Might make it for 2021...we'll see.

Will you create an image over the next 365 days that achieves your resolution? Most definitely. However, I couldn't help but ponder that if one chose to not have a resolution at all, would that be a black or white shot.

Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year for 2021! Make of it what you can and be content in that you have at least accomplished something, small or big, whether it be technical, educational, spiritual, or touched a heart somewhere.

I bought a Canon M50 Mark II to see if I really want to move into the mirror less world. I do most of the items you listed already

There's only you and your camera, do you really want one that still has a mirror in 2021? Congratulations and Happy New Year dwmoar!

This is a good list and offers a challenge. I have done quite a few of them but I still need to practice with my current equipment.
Mirrorless sounds like the way of the future... a bit expensive and do you go R5 or R6?

I'd never give up pixel resolution. The R6 is an excellent camera, but my wildlife and airshow shooting tends to depend on lenses that get me in the ballpark that 22 to 24MP cameras let me get closer in cropping. That's how I measure the difference based on my forecasted needs. Happy New Year!

Good point... Paul, you work magic with any piece of photo equipment.
R5 = 45 mp R6 = 20.1 mp
Runs about $4,500 to get started...

Happy New Year!

These are all wonderful challenges for me... and I must prioritize them!

One more to add, just for fun, is to select an image-making theme each month to lean on for inspiration.
Like 'black', '3', 'water', 'mystic', etc.

It's going to be a wonderful year for new creative opportunities!

God Bless!
