1. Definitely shoot more. And shoot stuff outside of my comfort zone.
2. Work towards getting more artful/creative/emotional shots vs just being a technician behind the camera.
3. Start pushing the boundaries of my new R5 that I got in November.
4. Print more with my Canon Pro 1000 - which has been greatly underused.
5. Get a new laptop. My 10 year old Lenovo Thinks Pad is maxed out when handling the new R5 image sizes - especially after post processing in Affinity Photo where the file sizes get even bigger.

As we look back and consider 2020, how did your photography change? We probably all made less trips. Did you visit / revisit new subjects closer to home? Did you change your camera bodies or focal lengths? What changes will you make for 2021?

What is a resolution?
A firm decision to do or not to do something.

Will you learn to better use your current equipment?

Will you learn your processing software?

Will you organize your legacy images?

Will you organize your new images?

Will you sell your unused and outdated equipment?

Will you ask for help?

Will you answer a request for help?

Will you use selective focus with an off-center AF point placed specifically on the subject?

Will you investigate higher ISOs?

Will you use your flash?

Will you use your tripod?

Will you try Back Button Focus?

Will you change to mirroless?

Will you create an image over the next 365 days that achieves your resolution?

Great list!

I will buy a 100-400 for my Sony plus a 2nd Sony full frame body (probably a9ii) and plan a trip when it is safe to do so (thinking Iceland). In the meantime, I’ll finish the course I bought to finally really learn the MAC now that Big Sur is out. Also, I’ll delve into the Fuji book I bought for my new Fuji X T-4 with the awesome 23mm f/1.4 lens. After that, I’ll dive into learning a new Photoshop skill!!! All this and adjusting my sleep schedule, too!!!!!

Thanks for helping us to focus (pun intended)!

Great topic. Travel stopped, pretty much for us all. Had to revamp photo habits. I did, as a matter of course, update my bodies to the newest version of available cameras. I do this to not lose all value of them when new ones come out.

More importantly, I took up macro and micro photography. Can do this in the comfort of my own own and while alone. Really did a deep dive into it. Engineered and built special devices to hold subject material, using stack shot rail and rotary table on a custom machined adjustable aluminum plate with 1/4-20 tapped holes to mount all quick release Arca Swiss plates and ball heads. Learned new software for focus stacking. Opened up a whole new world. Very interesting and new discipline and learning curve. Happy to share experience and recipes.

Very cool! And a good use of being stuck inside!

There are a few that really hit home with me, i.e. learning to use my newest camera to it's full ability, organizing my new and legacy images better and learning to use back button focus.

I sold my Tamron 70-200 zoom lens. I bought it for motor sports, but they all cancelled their races for the summer. Slowly cars and coffee shows began to open up here and I began using my 50mm more. I`ve made some contacts and hopefully I can start selling some pictures. As my luck would further have it, I printed a picture of Burnside bridge and had it hanging at a local restaurant for sale. They encouraged local artists to have their work displayed. A few weeks later they closed their doors because of covid. They hung on as long as they could. what a shame, they had awesome food.
So for 2021 I am rethinking what I want to do in photography. I`ve been an automechanic most of my life. I love old cars, exotic cars and pretty much anything with an engine. I have been looking at wide angle lenses, primes and zooms. So over the winter my goal is to study and read and learn what I can.
