Joe, I don't own ones that don't work. It looks worn but still takes the same quality photographs as it has over the years.

Hi, Larry. I have both the 500 f/8 and the 1000 f/11 they work great with both film and digital. Got good deals on both of them. Nothing near the original price.

I bought last summer a Nikon 1000mmF:11 mirror lens for only $300. When it was new (1970's) I've heard it was around $3200.00

Bob, When you start with quality you can share adventures. Stay well and safe and keep on with your adventures and create more brassing.Stan

Bob, I thought you were going to share your bride, not a well used Nikon. Excellent photo of a dear friend.

Greg, the good thing about Nikon cameras is that they don't have a mother-in-law attached to them.

Thanks for taking a look and leaving a comment.

A true classic as well as a mechanical icon. As a mechanical guy I marvel at older devices for the manufacturing processes were so much different in how they were designed and how they maintained precision compared to what is done today.

Could anyone (other than us old guys) imagine using a slide rule today? Manual drafting is also a thing of the past except for the artistically gifted. Once upon a time there would be rooms full of drafting tables and calculations performed with pencil and paper. Of course even longer ago the drafting was done with ink on linen.
Pardon me for showing my age.

SJ, I can easily equate. I have two slide rules laying near my work desk and all of my drafting equipment, including jewel point Koh-i-Noor Pens for ink on both linen and mylar. I still enjoy exercising those drafting skills when needed. Yes, I worked in one of those rooms years ago. Now, after I spend time with pencil and paper I migrate to a CAD system for the work I need to have done. Most recently, I had a custom front standard made so I can use my Graphic lens boards on an Arca-Swiss camera. That was fun from the design aspect to the shooting aspect.

Thanks for taking a look and commenting.

You brought memories with your image, Bob. I still own my Canon F-1 system - in perfect working condition - slightly younger than your Nikon.
I am also glad that you mentioned the camera wizard - Marty Forscher who did an incredible surgery for my 6x9 SLR in the Sixties. These mechanical picture making marvels documented a good part of our history.
Cheers!

Paul, thanks for stopping by and commenting. Canon cameras, like Nikons, captured a lot of the history we experienced. From what I read Marty was an incredible technician who could repair or make just about anything.
