If you want to make enemies, say something true about Nikon.
This is getting old, even for you. You, seriously, need to get a life.

Buying a Nikon doesn't make you a better photographer. It makes you a future former Nikon owner.
Paul, do you really think if Nikon goes out of business suddenly every Nikon owner will get rid of their Nikons, I don't think so?
I don't know if Ninon is going out of business or not.
Manufacturing labor in Japan has reach a very high levels as it is the case in the US and companies move to where they can lower the cost. Remember when we made all the televisions here?
And yes, many if those like Zenith, Motorola RCA are not around...but some of those were bought out.
So will Nikon go out of business? It is possible, it could also happen to Canon. That is the beauty of innovation. Haven't you heard of a little company who sold books on the early days of the internet?
Works for me, messenger.
We use to call this penis envy.
I watched this video because I'm aware of BL, but have never used them as a source. It caused a chuckle to learn that people aren't just not buying Nikon, they're not renting them either. Ten slots, top 5 lenses and cameras, and Nikon didn't make BL's most rented equipment in either category. The market is speaking, whether you want to hear it or not. I guess you can watch this one with the volume muted?

Nikon may be closing their Japan plant but they still have cameras, surveying equipment, and other products made in their China plant. For years I have looked for products I needed not made in China but it was extremely difficult. With this pandemic the political climate is somewhat changing and countries and companies are seeing that it is bad to locate all manufacturing in one place.

I searched and found your website and looked at your work, it is excellent as well. I particularly like how you have managed to accentuate the eyes in your portraiture. Even though your subjects are quite stunning, as a viewer I was drawn to their eyes in your work. Very nice!
Have a Merry Christmas
Thank you, I appreciate your kind words.
Merry Christmas to you as well!

Do you just have a list of one-liners that you trot out when you think they’ll fit the situation?
No...he’s just an arrogant egotistical a** who believes that his Canon hardware makes him inherent superior to the rest of us.
Although maybe he’s just more of a troll who gets his jollies by acting so superior. Dunno...and don’t really care.
I don't understand all this angst and bile. It seems you're satisfied with Nikon's downward direction. Cutting off third-party shops from Nikon parts, not even touching gray market equipment, not supporting AF-capable lenses from DSLRs on the Z-platform, not being able to compete on volume (Canon) nor on price (Sony), letting Sony pass them in 15-short years, outsourcing sensors to a direct competitor. Their equipment is great, if they were only taking on the likes of Olympus and Fuji.
If your personality or self-worth is tied up in your (camera) equipment, this thread was a public service announcement specifically for you, giving a heads up that it might be time to consider something new. Use it if you need it, leave it if you don't.

I agree with whatcha Canon has said if you look at the make up of Nikon, Canon or Sony then the reliance on camera sales is what affects Nikon most of all when compared to Canon with their product line of cameras, medical imaging equipment which is vast plus their printer/ scanner products.
Sony have their electronics division. These are the reasons that Nikon could go to the wall

Not dead yet - but dead soon!
Nikon has much bigger fish to fry in their other product lines. Same true of olympus.
In the end it will be just Canon and Sony, Leica, and phones.
Umm, maybe NASA chose that company brand for photography? You are pretty supreme sitting on your Canon seat. Be nice, and let it go. So biased....

In the case of Olympus they are not dead as after dumping their camera business they still have good profitable product lines. But the camera won't even have the name Olympus on them.

Actually they will. Canon will be converting all of Amazon's "Smile" vans into Nikon collection units. They are testing the technology where the Nikon cameras will be dumped into a hopper on the back and a new Canon unit will be delivered on the side.
The only question is whether or not Sony is working on similar, but more advanced technology.
Only time will tell.
Merry Christmas everybody!
