I received this as a gift but I haven’t been able to figure out what it is or for what it’s to be used.

I can see one use for it - prying the screw top on a jar to release the vacuum seal but I’m guessing it’s for more than that.

This looks to me like something used to tighten shoe laces. We used to use something like this years ago for tightening our state laces for playing hockey.

Hold on to it, eventually it will become obsolete and worthless.

IMHO it started that way.

I hope my wife doesn't see any of those ads, she might get a few. She is a retired Surgical Nurse and OR Charge Nurse so she is a natural germaphobe to begin with. She gets absolutely freaked over some of the conditions she has seen me eating or doing other things. I just tell her it is positively sanitary compared to some places on the farm, out hunting or fishing or my two years in Vietnam. She has never feinted but she has looked a bit green around the gills.

I think I will continue to use common sense instead of throwing money at the situation...

Some are copper plated as copper has natural anti viral properties.

That is all well and good for a piece of scrap metal. With the Pandemic paranoia running rampant, I bet it costs $39.95. I’ll also bet that you can buy 2 for 77.95 with a two year warranty.

I can sell you an extended warranty

Something to manipulate other objects without touching them. the rubber tip can work on phone screens, pushing and the hook for things you need to pull.

They should make one that shoots a 9mm bullet, has a switchblade knife built in, opens bottles, back scratcher, opens your mail, clips your nails and pushes elevator buttons and opens doors. Then it would be something that I'm interested in..... LOL

I thought this was a joke. But no, go to e-bay and do a search on:
No Touch Virus Antimicrobial Door Opener. All kinds of results.

It is a Covid button pusher / door puller. It transfers the virus from the button to your pocket where it will die in a couple of days as long as you don't stick your hand in your pocket.
If it was made of copper it might have some self sanitizing properties.
