I've done that as well. I don't feel so foolish now that I see others have done the same thing.

My Tamron 150-600 G2, purchased just a few months ago, has developed an issue with the zoom ring. It had been working smoothly until just a few days ago and now is quite hard to turn. Any quick fixes out there? Warrantee issue? (I did not drop, bang or mishandle it.)

You have a six year warranty. Send them the lens and your camera body as well. Ask them to check out the problem you have and to tune the lens to your camera body. They turn it around in a week, free FedEx return shipping, and outstanding packaging. Read carefully their guidance on what to send them and what not to send them. You will be pleased with their service and their performance of your lens on your camera body.

If he had it in the "lock" position, the zoom ring would not move at all.

Au contraire. It happened to me. I’m talking about the lock switch not the push/pull lock. I couldn’t figure out why the lens had become so hard to zoom. Looking it over I found that the lock switch (which I didn’t know was there) had been moved to the lock position. Switching it off returned it to normal function.

Well, when I put the lock switch in the lock position on my lens, the zoom ring does not move at all. Just to be certain, I double checked just now. In the lock position, the zoom ring does not budge.

Since the OP hasn't bothered to respond to any of our responses, I'm going to stop wasting my time and "unwatch" his topic.

I made the same mistake and had the same reaction because I didn't read the manual.

But you lens is fine.

Pull the zoom ring toward you to release the drag and push it out to lock it.

Yes it would. Its very stiff like he described. I have one and did the same thing shortly after getting it. Scared the crap out of me. I actually posted a question on here before I found the lock ring.

Had some serious email and internet issues due to a hack. Thank you all for your comments. Lock switch is in unlock position. Zoom ring was out of position. Fixed! Thanks. Good to know Tamron has good customer service.
