I think that the bottom line on this is that the post office, like most businesses and even government agencies, have reduced staffing to comply with social spacing and stay at home orders due to the pandemic. It's not that they want to, it's more that they have to in order to be in compliance with the government's orders. In this case, many times, it may be state orders. I say this based on things I have seen and experienced during this pandemic. (I am keeping some of my opinions on this silent to prevent this from looking political in any way and being moved to the Attic, as this is an important topic for everyone to be aware of.)
