Just as it's a New Englander's birthright to complain about the weather, we Seniors have earned the right to complain about, well, anything. And God knows we've raised complaining to an art form! Just look at it as Jerry (and the rest of us) venting a little pent up frustration thereby improving his state of mind. And hey; if Jerry stops posting, what'll the rest of us do?

Anyone can say whatever they like.

But it does give quite an insight to the character of the poster.

Post Office is a private business - does not have any money support from taxes - so he's not saving any tax payer money... It's the typical bean counter mentality - raise the profits, lower the costs...

Yes and no. You’re correct in that it is not funded by taxes, but it’s an independent part of the Executive Branch of our government.

I have for years been a backer of the movement to totally replace the postal system as we know it. it is extremely dysfunctional, inefficient and a money down the rat hole enterprise. If they go belly up and close all post offices within the hour it would be a blessing for the tax payer. It is manned by mostly inefficient thieves and many of the employees should be arrested for various crimes.

As has been correctly stated, the Postal Service is not funded ny taxes. As for inefficiency, can you name any company, anywhere, that delivers to every address, in every US state, territory or possession for 55 cents?

I heard this was coming over a month ago, and it was confirmed today. With my daily report of what mail I'm getting today came a big red note. The PO is getting slammed with more packages than usual, and they have a reduced work force, so we can expect delays. Like hospital workers, those who work for the PO are being asked to do more with fewer resources. At least death isn't a regular occurrence in the postal system.

I got the same message from Informed Delivery.
In my small town, the PO still has the same number of employees as off season.
EVERYTHING is, understandably overburdened by COVID-19.
It’s a new fact of life.

My package was delivered the other day with a surgical mask on it.
Gotta love it!

Yes indeed. Tracking a package for our home showed that it spent 5 days sitting in a distribution center in Des Moines, IA. To be expected.

Here's a BIG surprise - delivery delays (usps, ups, fedex) in the busiest time of year under some of the worst conditions ever. Find something useful to do Jerry. It's not ALL ABOUT YOU!!

Google: USPS Informed Delivery and if the service is available in your area you can sign up. You’ll get an email every day letting you know what mail is scheduled to be delivered to you.

I have been following this post for the past few days and with every new post, unfortunately yours always comes up in the mix. Hopefully with a few more posts, the new ones will move yours to another page, where it won't be viewed any longer. There are hundreds of us that just happen to like Jerry's posts, so I suggest you go chill out in front of the fireplace with a bottle of Jack Daniels and mellow. Then if you are still concerned about Jerry's well-being, please consult a psychiatrist and ask him why you have this overly parental need to control. I am certain that you could start a "Go Fund Me" page and get a lot of contributions from the UHH readers to pay the bill.
I have been following this post for the past few d... (show quote)

I will try to respond again, using the majority of my initial post removed by admin. for “cleaning up”. This will not contain the the ‘crude’ three letter anatomical reference.

“ Thank you for the insight. May I suggest you organize a structured ‘pitty party’ site for the hundreds of like minded pessimists you claim exit on here.

I seem to be able to stay relatively “chill” despite some things in my life that shall we just say are ‘quite inconvenient’. Although my fuse is shorter when around what I feel represents ignorance, stupidity, condescension and those that feel others must do or “fund” for them.

I’m not aware of trying to control, but am concerned about that negative attitude.

If you have a valid basis for your psych consult suggestion, send me a Private Message and I will consider your evaluation. If it was just a cheap shot, then Kiss .. ... .

Finally when Sipping (never drinking) by the fire, there are finer bourbons than Jack, try one, it may change your cheap ...... outlook.

Corporate America has been in this mode for a long time. Seems like the PO is not exempt. A lady in my town posted she waited in line 1.5 hours with still 5 people ahead of her and only 1 of 3 windows open. If the po would diver boxes and not leave pickup slips instead, the po would not be so busy. No, it's not a covid problem, it is standard operating procedure for this location.

Watch out for the ukelales. I hear they bite when you're swimming.
Ukuleles on the other hand are safe. They don't have teeth I hear.

Actually, the Post Office doesn't receive tax proceeds after Congress in its august wisdom spun it off mandating that it be self sufficient and requiring that it fund its retirement pension fund 50 years in advance.
Then came Louis DeJoy.

And here's something that just does not make sense. I have one box enroute. It's been in the Des Moines, Center for 72 hours. Today it moved on - not once but three times! This does not instill confidence that the head end knows what the back end it doing.
