The proper name of the Mac operating System #11 is Big Sur named after the location in California, USA.

Since this is a totally new OS you should wait for the second or third update. Also you should check to make sure that your computer is compatible with it. Which Mac (specifically) do you have and what Mac OS are you running?

I just updated to 10.15.7 after waiting a year. It’s finally stable! Unfortunately, it is also the last version that runs on my Late 2013 iMac. And, it killed Epson Scan and Digital ICE features in my scanners. But there are workarounds.

When the Apple Silicon transition is nearly complete, I’ll switch to a new M1 machine.

McAfee firewall is totally not compatible with Big Sur. McAfee offers and apology and says they are working on a fix. They recommend using the MAC firewall. They have not offerred a refund on my subscription. The update on my iMac was easy with the above mentioned issue excepted.
My 2013 Mac Book Pro is not compatible with Big Sur. I hope Apple keeps providing updates for Catalina.

I have a late 2013 Mac Book Pro and Big Sur installed without any problem.

I have updated my 2017 iMac to Big Sur with no issues. The biggest problem is that Catalina and Big Sur will not support older (32-bit) applications. Here's a link to a site that tells you how to determine whether you have 32-bit applications running on your Mac, and you'll have to determine if that includes anything you can't live without:
