"Full plate"
"think outside the box"
"double down on our efforts"
I just retired and heard dozens of these phrases over the years that often made me cringe.
So? A needle pulling thread.
Athleticism, religiosity, positivity, functionality . . .
These, in my opinion, are not real words and are an example of failed grandiloquence.
"Team Player" has always driven me nuts.
"Wait for it......wait for it" is worn out big time.
I had forgotten all about that game. I used to keep a running total in my head as the King Kong in Bloomers who was the dept. head, had absolutely no wit nor sense of humor.

2020 is coming to an end. There are many words and phrases that have been overused this year. Some that come to mind for me are:
“At the end of the day”
“Repurposed”
“Reimagined”
Starting answers to questions with “So”
“Final thoughts”
“The new normal”
“Game changer”
“Reach out”

'Absolutely' is trying to make a comeback.
Sure is, and if I hear one more parent say “good job” to their child after some truly inconsequential achievement, I’m going to get homicidal.
Awesome was, at one time, banished from a major newspaper unless descriptive of a nuclear explosions, volcanic eruption or an earth quake. Sadly, that is no longer the case.
