I print 11x14 a lot for our club Competition’s. I just bought this printer and was trying to do my first print. What a bummer!. How canon could make a printer like this, is beyond me. Guess I'll have to put it on CL.

Whoa Mel! Try it again!
When you're setting "Custom" size, be sure it's set for inches, and not millimeters, and be sure to set 11x14, NOT 14x11. Note the parameters to the right of your adjustments, it will not allow for a 14" width because 13" is you max width on the Pro-9000. I just set mine for 11x14 without a problem.
Fear Not, fellow UHHer, it'll work!

Create a custom size for your printer and print on 11 X 17 paper; trim to size.

This seems to work. I have the same printer and tried to find custom paper size and there isn't any. You can crop and resize your image to 11x14 and then select 11 x 17 paper. Just scoot the image over to the far right so that it starts to print on the leading edge of the paper of the printer.

I do a lot of 3d work and often want to sell prints of 11X14 and larger. The easiest and quickest way I've found is to simply take it to a print shop. A print will cost you about $7, will be permanent (ink jet is totally not permanent), and will usually come out with more vivid colors, etc. I've priced 11X14 print paper, and once you count up the cost of a package of that, plus the cost of a printer large enough to print 11X14 (or larger) prints, you're actually saving money in the long run. I've gotten prints up to 50X72 inches for around $25, and there is no way I could afford a printer and the paper to do that on my won. Bottom line - try a print shop.

Interesting - I have the Canon Pro9000 and it will accept the custom size 11x14 - now, I don't have any of that size paper so I can't print to prove. Can only say that the size was not rejected

Can you do a screen capture of this setting and how to access it? I have the same printer and I can't find a custom paper size setting.

Ink jet DYES are not permanent; PIGMENTS are. The Canon Pro 9000 is a dye printer.

You may have the wrong software loaded. The range should not max out at 8.50.

Mel - i did some screen shots, perhaps this will help.

Follow the first SS from top left to the right,
bottom left to the right.
instructions to follow the first SS.
Read the instructions to the T and save the setting.

Here are some screen shots for custom settings. This is on a Mac though.

If you call Canon, they will work you through it and give you a profile. I think a print from Cosco or Sam's is cheaper than printing your own. That's what they get me at my Camera Club Meetings.

Lordy- that's not good!
And with the cost of these carts, we sure don't want to be experimenting.
would it be feasible to have someone do the printing for you, this one time? I hear Costco is good. But that is only hearsay on my part. I don't use outside sources, i do my own.

For the past 6 years I have been using a bulk ink feed system. Saves me about 90% on ink costs. It does take a little fiddling to create a printer profile, but once you have it you are away to the races. Here's a link to one outfit for price comparisons.

Also . . . if using Costco for prints, order online and check the little box that says "do not adjust color" Your results will be greatly improved if you are adjusting your own color in post process.

It looks like you're in the wrong section. If you click on "File" on upper left, go down and click on "Print", it should open your printer "Preferences". In "Page Layout" click for "Media Size" scroll all the way down to "Custom Size", click. You can enter mm or inches. Enter 11 in top box, 14 in bottom box, and you should have it. I think you're using Lightroom, rather than you Canon Printer Preferences.
