I just looked at their website. I couldn't find anything about a cop hating racist terror organization, only diversity and the environment.

Of course one can decide to patronize, or not, any business based on what the owners of that business (in their case, employee owned) support or don't support. I confess that I shy away from any business that thinks killing a quarter of a million Americans is OK, or discriminating against someone because of their skin color, or sexual orientation, or gender, is also OK.

Some time ago, I looked for a tripod mainly for workshops. I already owned an Acratech ball head that suited me fine, so the thin legs and over the top price of the PD was an immediate turnoff. Instead, I bought a Sirui T-2205X carbon for less than $300 and coupled with a pano adapter and tilt head, for me, it’s a more than satisfactory combination. And when the Acratech ball head is an easy swap when I need it. Bottom line, the cost benefit of the PD didn’t pass the ho-ho test.

I have the carbon fiber tripod, and I'm pleased with it, except the ball head. Whenever I try to shoot vertical. the ball head is at an angle preventing a clean 90 degree image. They are all somewhat tilted, no matter whether I extend the center column or not. I swapped it for the universal mount and got an inexpensive ball head that works perfectly. I made peak design aware of this flaw as soon as I got the tripod, but I've not heard a peep from them about it. If I had to make the choice again, with this knowledge I wouldn't be even tempted to buy it.

Have you considered using an L-bracket on your camera? With an L-bracket you turn the camera and not the head. This makes reframing the shot a lot faster since you are not lowering the camera several inches and moving it several inches to the side; it's in the almost exact same place.

Yes, I have an L bracket on my camera, but even then in the vertical camera position , the alignment is not perfect as I have to tilt the ball head for a 75 degree shot.

Hey Tradio,

Why do you think Peak Designs is a ...."cop hating racist terror organization"? Did I mis-interpret your msg? I live in SF and have been to the Peak Design store and don't think they are what you describe.

regards

Are you describing Peak Designs or one of the groups supporting the soon-to-be former 45th President?
