Never forgot. I was checking out pilots in the P-3 shooting T&Gs at Byrd field, Richmond and our radioman informed us of the event. In DC that right I remember the somber crowds at the Lincoln Memorial.
Yes, hard to believe that it was so long ago. I had just finished a physical exam for appointment to a university job from which I retired in 2009.
Life was all fun and games then in an instant we all became adults. It turned out to be DAY ONE of what we have come to know as the '60s.

I was at Neigh Bay radar site upgrading med charts when an airman came in with the news.The line on the flag pole was broken so someone had to climb the pole and fix a new line so we could fly the flag at half mast.
