These were taken over the past few days around the yard at our newly built home in East Dallas. Shooting toward the bright sun was challenging. Herons and egrets feed at our pond regularily. I snuck outside as quitely as possible. The Heron looked straight toward me at times, but didn't mind my presense as long as I remaied still and stayed about 150 feet away. Sometimes I have to use our house as a blind to avoid spooking the birds, but I avoid it as much as possible because shooting thur dual pane tinted windows degrades sharpeness and reduces 2 stops of light. Snake might be a young Hog snake. Very small: Maybe 1" in diameter and 18" long. Shot from 7 feet away; Close enough. Canon 7DM2 with 100-400L II.

Thanks Stan. Glad I told builder to leave the pond.
Great captures all. Lovely BIFs with the Heron - good timing. Not fond of snakes, but this is a well-rendered capture, spot-on with the composition. Please stay well and keep on sharing.

We built our new home on a creek lot in Richardson sixty years ago and we're enjoyed it each season. My best shots are of the Mallard couple that return every year and a shot of Mama with ten duckling emerging from under the Cottonwood Creek Bridge.
