I don't ask, nor care, whether it was taken with a Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Instamatic, MAT-124, RB-67, oatmeal box pinhole, or Galaxy...

It's an image.

I'm with you, Longshadow. A photo either speaks to you or it doesn't. What difference does it make what kind of camera it was taken with?

I have been following this forum since it's first day and shoot both a Galaxy A51 and a Nikon D7200. I shoot RAW in both.

Every day I look in here I see pictures posted that have no reason not to be posted in specialized forums. No I'm not talking about Photo Gallery. I'm talking about Landscape, For Your Consideration, Post Processing and Digital Images, Close up and I can go on.

This a perfect, and long needed, forum which allows us to engage in technical discussions, technique, etc. and yes post pictures.

Within the limits of the camera, cell phones can compete with any DSLR. I have been posting cell phone pictures, without mentioning they came from a cell phone, for over a year now in many forums. The responses, as you would expect, have ranged from "Nice shot" or to brutally honest but not once has anyone asked me "Is that from a cell phone?"

JMHO but I think some cell phone users are selling themselves and their equipment. Post here? Sure, but post with the Big Boys too, we're at least as good as they are.
I have been following this forum since it's first ... (show quote)

Ok, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed (some say my edge has been filed down....and not oiled), but how do you post in multiple threads? Or, do you just go back and post images totally again in each individual thread?

For me the benefit is discussions on handling techniques, in phone processing software and other hardware related items. The new iPhone 12 pro is reported to sport a lidar range finder. The big hardware sites are not interested in our “toys”, but we need to share here. I too post photos elsewhere that are often better than others post.

Well, I didn't want to throw my weight around by having the same pictures in more than one category.

As far as cell phones go, I believe in the saying, "The best camera is the one you have with you. "

My pictures taken with any camera are just a starting point. So if I dice up an image, add a faux frame or texture, is it still indicative of anything particular to the phone camera, or is it more indicative of post processing?

Depends on one's view (outlook)...
The primary image content was still taken with "a" (specific) camera.

I agree with you! Smart phone cam’s are a camera! Sony and Nikon have cameras, too. Will a smart phone replace a DSLR in all circumstances? No. It doesn’t need to. A nice photo...is a nice photo. Posting in the ‘hog’ is not a competition. It’s sharing...nice photos, information, ideas, suggestions...
I’m so happy that you are posting your mobile photos just like any photo from any camera source!!
If someone wants bare-details about a photo...they can ask. Otherwise...peeps can enjoy the photo and move-on.
Celebrate the photo!
(Just my opinion...)
