I have been following this forum since it's first day and shoot both a Galaxy A51 and a Nikon D7200. I shoot RAW in both.

Every day I look in here I see pictures posted that have no reason not to be posted in specialized forums. No I'm not talking about Photo Gallery. I'm talking about Landscape, For Your Consideration, Post Processing and Digital Images, Close up and I can go on.

This a perfect, and long needed, forum which allows us to engage in technical discussions, technique, etc. and yes post pictures.

Within the limits of the camera, cell phones can compete with any DSLR. I have been posting cell phone pictures, without mentioning they came from a cell phone, for over a year now in many forums. The responses, as you would expect, have ranged from "Nice shot" or to brutally honest but not once has anyone asked me "Is that from a cell phone?"

JMHO but I think some cell phone users are selling themselves and their equipment. Post here? Sure, but post with the Big Boys too, we're at least as good as they are.

It's a camera...

I don't ask, nor care, whether it was taken with a Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Instamatic, MAT-124, RB-67, oatmeal box pinhole, or Galaxy...

It's an image.

As you know, I post in both, but sometimes I like to see what other people can do with a cell phone.

Your point is apt, Jack. And well made, but there have always been and continue to be those of us who post mobile phone images in all appropriate sections a(and have been doing so for a number of years.)

Anyone wishing to learn the sort of camera used can easily check the exit data; IME few strip the data.

There are a number of us who commonly post the same or similar images simultaneously in more than one section- and in more than one photographic forum for that matter.

There are those who enjoy specifically posting their mobile phone images in this section to make them proudly available to any wanting to view images definitively of mobile phone origin for their own edification. So, IMO, this section serves several valid functions for the benefit of the varied minders of our clearly attitudinally varied membership. And the term “Big Boys” is clear ( and possibly even offensive) evidence of that! Attitudinal disparity.

Well said Dave. I agree with multiple posts, I do them myself on occasion. I guess what I was trying to say is we are Big Boys too. Post photos here sure, but not just here literally on the bottom of the stack. Were as good as they are and most of what's posted is PPed anyway.

I view any image on its own merit, as an image,
regardless of camera, processing, or photographer.
(Oh, most definitely my own person! )

I used to put dimes in my penny loafers,
(pay phone calls)).

Unless I’m badly mistaken it looks like we are all basically in agreement with all Jack’s original points!
(Hard t’remember when there has been such unanimity on anything!)

I, for one, was very happy to see this forum created. There seems to be a general misconception that cellphone cameras are generally only good for quick snapshots or selfies. I’ve never agreed with that idea. While that is what lots of people use their cellphone cameras for, a skilled photographer can produce, as evidenced here, some very nice photos. This is a great forum for cellphone photography discussion.

Personally, I would prefer that people state the model of their Smartphones so that other's can know what the capabilities of the various phones are.

On another note, it's good to see people having a civil conversation.
