Beautifully captured ThomJ4! Excellent! Lovely photo!
Here are a few where the light was challenging, either because it was too harsh or the backlighting was too strong, but playing around with the photos afterward helped things pop. I included the original and final version of each. Everything looks better in download.
Original version: Gorilla at San Diego Zoo; backlit and washed out.
(
Download)
Final version after processing.
(
Download)
Original version: St. Peter's Basilica in Rome; caught the sunbeam, but washed out a bit.
(
Download)
Final version after processing to remove haze and get colors to pop more (plus a little geometric tweaking)
(
Download)
Original version: German Shepherd with sunbeams
(
Download)
Final version after processing to tone down the highlights and boost the colors a bit.
(
Download)
Original version: Michelangelo's second copy of David in the Piazza della Signoria, Florence, Italy. (Original statue was moved to the Galleria dell'Accademia di Firenze to get it out of the elements)
(
Download)
Final version after processing to bring out details and shadows (and remove some pesky light fixtures by his foot)
(
Download)
Original version: Jaguar at Belize Zoo; flash on foliage overwhelmed the main subject.
(
Download)
Final version after processing to tone down the light reflecting on the leaves and bring more focus on the jaguar.

The early morning fog also helped to make this photo. I was honoured to have it used on CTV London on Nov. 10th.

Nicely done! I like that you posted both before and after. I especially like the Gorilla and the Jaguar.

Good evening!
I have chosen "Use of Light" for my challenge. What I want you to think about is how light makes or breaks a photo. Lets face it... you can't have a photo if there is no light but even with minimal light you can take fantastic photos. Show us the many ways of photographing a scene or subject by making sure the light is right. Or if you took a photo and if the exposure was not what you wanted then show your edited version. There are few photos that are perfect straight from the cameras, but in post processing you can often get what you saw. If you think about it, you took the photo because of the light that caught your eye.
So lets see your photos and if you wish, tell us why you took it and what did you do in post processing to get the finished photo.
Lets see what you got and most important.... have fun with it.

I am glad it helps. I am always afraid of hurting people's feelings. We are all learning and always will be! :-)
You still have a long way to go to hurt my feelings, Clicker LOL

Very nicely captured Fred! All very good... last one...yup right moment!
My contribution to this theme is a very lucky happenstance i recently encountered. This is the setting sun reflecting on receding waves on the southern Maine coast. I found it very eye-catching.
