I love the smell of Napalm and the sound of a Nikon shutter clicking in the morning! The DSLR are real cameras. Mirrorless cameras are a larger version of a Smartphone without the ability to make a call.

Nikon shutters were poppin' with this group and no one complained

Does anyone besides myself hear the annoying shutters going off at say, a presidential news conference or what have you. They must all be D6's (little sarchasm on that last comment). They should ban such noisy cameras. Seriously, that could be a big problem taking nature shots.

Good luck on that problem and I think Nikon blew you off especially if the quiet mode was as loud as the regular shutter sound mode.

Good luck

No, they will never ban the camera's. In fact, they place a mike near the photographers to increase it. It is done for phycological reasons. You see, it makes folks at home feel it is important because there are so many news photographers there covering it. Think if you heard nothing, then it must no be important.

Just send it to me. I'll give it a good home with another D6 and a D5. I won't charge you even a nickel.

I wasn't promoting banning cameras - I was promoting banning cameras that make a lot of noise

...dude, I travel with a D5 in one hand and a Z7 in the other...love 'em both, and the "mirrorless" sounds just like a shutter is hammerin'...

Nice thing about the Z's (and a big reason I got into 'em) is a silent mode. And it IS!

The D6 and other Nikon professional models were never known to have quiet shutters and in quiet modes, it doesn't seem to make any difference no matter what model your using.

And I was informing you why they will never ban camera's that make a lot of noise.

I’ve been sneaking up on wildlife my entire life. Getting too close to wildlife, especially during spring, is not a wise thing. They must not be disturbed just for a photograph. Getting too close to wildlife, especially birds, gives photographers a bad name, particularly among birders.

"Birders" have a lot of things that bother them. I've never seen a more persnikity bunch! I'm sure they would be bothered all to hell about someone bothering the birds with a loud shutter. Almost as bad as golfers!
And I would be bothered all to hell as a photographer, to be given a bad name by a bunch of birders. NOT!
